In one of the the wild sourdough starters that is , not like me personally.


Kiddo was somewhat interested in the happenings inside the jar of cheater SD starter yesterday, especially when it was full of bubbles and nearly tripled in size, and asked what was happening.
I explained the yeasties were farting. 😁
What better way to get someone interested in science than by making it fun, so you know... I just go with it.

So, Lad, the plain brown rice with a touch of lemon juice, has the gas. Not a ton, but he's bubbling. It's day 4 for him. Smells completely normal, like rice flour.

Bonny Sour, the one with oat and rice, that went from yeasty smelling to sharp, then to even sharper...she's bordering on becoming obnoxiously offensive. Looks normal, no bubbles, no anything...but so dang sharp I'm sure she could take the hair off a dog.

Quincy, the quinoa and whole grain cheater, is getting a tiny tangy smell. It's a nice tang and it's still holding some of yesterdays awesome yeast farts.
