Any Home Bakers Here?

Sorry to hear that bbh! :hugs
Tomorrow will be a better day, or if not, definitely Friday when it gets back into the 80's. 🙂 May be I will make bread. Unless one of you bakers shares a really good recipe for pizza dough! I even have 00 flour dough!

@pennyJo1960 is a regular pizza maker. Let her offer her suggestions.

Second option,,,,,, you can use the recipe I mostly use, and make pizzas, and bread from same batch. You can cut recipe in half for smaller quantity.
Here is a kwik jump to it.

Or get creative, and go to the index,, There are fine recipes for pizza there as well.

We have 3 pizza dough recipes that we use. 2 of them are very similar, but distinctive enough that we can tell which recipe I made. One recipe is called "Pizza! Pizza!" by Alton Brown from the Good Eats tv show; the other is simply called "Pizza Dough" by George Hirsch from his Gather 'Round the Grill cookbook (and I think it was on his TV show way back when). The third recipe is for Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza and is a recipe that I am currently working on to get it like the Chicago Style pizza that we loved at Uno's Pizza place in Platteville Wisconsin (where we met in college).

What would be your ultimate pizza crust? Chewy, crispy, light, thick, thin ... what texture, what flavor profile?
Pizza crust is very subjective to personal preferences.

For the past year I've been learning how to bake yeast breads here at home. It's been challenging and rewarding (when it all comes together right, lol).

Today for the 1st time I made up a Boule recipe and ran into a snag. Is there anyone here that's familiar with yeast breads? Since I'm here several times a day reading about chickens, it would be great to chat with others that also bake.

I love to bake! I bake bread regularly instead of buying it. I’ve never made a Boule. I’ll have to try it. I do t usually have an issue anymore making bread. It’s kinda second nature now. The thing that was the hardest for me to learn when starting was knowing which types have more sticky dough, when to stop kneading, how long to rise etc. I’ll have to check out these sites and get some ideas for different recipes.

What I’m working on now? Trying to start a sourdough starter 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can’t seem to get it!

Welcome! Glad to have you here.

Waterfowl season opened today. I didn’t get anything. It was still fun, though.

I’m going to carve the following on a pumpkin for Halloween:

(N/2)SIN(360/N)

Thumbs up if you get the reference. If you don’t get the reference, let me explain.

The larger N is, The closer you get to pi when you input this equation. If N equals an infinite number, you have pi.

I guess you can say it’s pumpkin pi.

Try it yourself and see. It’s pretty interesting.

Ugh, sudden onset of cold weather today (27° this morning) caused fibro flare. Got nothing done. 😵
Arthritis is my issue. Was walking yesterday and my left foot started having pain in the middle of it. Luckily it went away. My left knee, foot and hip and then my right foot are the worst.

Welcome to the thread! There is a recipe for starter in the database accessible on page 1 of this thread. There is a member or two who can send you some as well. Happy baking!
