I forgot to update you guys on this. Right now, I have a bunch of salt on the fan and the beard of the turkey. After about 2-4 weeks, I think, it should be good enough to mount on the wall.

The beard is almost 3 inches long.
Very nice!

All right, I made it back safely.

Here is the end result after getting all the feathers off the wings.

That’s Mother’s Day dinner right there!

I also was able to save the heart, liver, neck, and gizzard for giblet gravy.

To my surprise, none of the pellets went into the body. Only one pellet made it into the back. Everything else hit the head.

That’s good, considering I used a blunderbuss!
Excellent shooting 👍🏻 that is what a turkey should look like and not those poor bloated sick animals they sell at the supermarket

I will label this as LEMON PIE FILLING RECIPE.

Did some baking today. The cupcakes are from a packet, I was doing the baking with my granddaughter, so packet was the choice. :highfive: I let her add all the ingredients, Except, I handled the eggs. Of course the Kitchen-aid Machine did all the work.
I did make the Lemon filing.
First time doing such, so followed recipe to a T.
Here is that recipe.
Lemon Pie Filling.JPG

Mixed all the ingredients in my stand mixer. I first beat the egg, and then added rest of ingredients.

Into a pot on stovetop. Continuously stirring.

This is how it turned out after came to a boil, I let mixture cool for next step. Note mixture is not very yellow. I do not add any food color, and slight yellow is from that single egg yolk.

Notes,,
The quantity of filling that I made was more than I needed to fill 24 cupcakes,,,,, so I placed remainder into a zip lock baggie, and froze for next time use.

When I make lemon meringue pie, any extra custard or meringue gets the Spoon Treatment. That is, I eat it off a spoon. :gig

Mrs and I beat you to it(and it did not set. whoops)

It is a bit tough to get the thickening correct with apples. Some are wetter than others.

Have you tried clear jel? You can get a feel for how much to use based on how wet the apples are in the bowl after you add the sugar, spices and a pinch of salt.
