Any Home Bakers Here?

Homegrown tomato, eggs from the ducks/chickens, and homemade sourdough with homegrown basil. Topped with homegrown chives.

I'm feeling happy with the harvest...I can't believe its already time to plan the fall garden!

Isn't there some kind of BYC contest to enter that in?

Official BYC Contests, Etc.

Homegrown food tastes better!

This morning I had stir fried rice. Not home grown rice, but home grown (laid) eggs, garlic, onions, tomatoes, and oregano.

I think part of the taste come from going :tongue:plbbto the grocery store.:lau

Speaking of rice... I could not get brown rice at Costco yesterday. At checkout, when they ask if I found everything ok, I mentioned this. He said that brown rice was hard to come by.

Yet they had bags of white rice. Hmmm. I might buy one, just to have on hand.

Be sure to check how long the rice you buy can stay fresh on the shelf. The more refined, the less time it has.

I freeze jasmine rice in gallon bags but they are not the worst for shelf life. Brown rice has a much longer shelf life.

Jumping on the home baker thread! I’ve been baking since I was a little girl on the farm. Thanks to my grandma. Tomorrow I’m making and canning peach sriracha jam with my (now adult) kids! These pics are of a Spanish roscon I made last Christmas.
