Any Home Bakers Here?

Evening bakers! Just pulled these lovely loafs out and they smell heavenly 😍 2 hour sourdough French bread! Kids are feeling icky, back to school so apparently time to spread the germs 🙄 It's chicken soup and these babies tonight!

Here the link if anyone wants the recipe! There's a slow ferment too instead of a discard like I used 😊

Last winter was our first winter. We got our pullets end of the prior July. They started laying in September and continued laying all through the winter. The only slowdown was during our heatwave in mid-summer.
That is normal for the first year. This year they will molt and stop laying for part of the winter.

Watch out for the feather explosion!

My Dutch oven has a handle on cover,, so it would not lay flat. Also, when I do use the Dutch oven, my bread size,,, the sides shape the bread.

I have one like that! It works well.

I was just wondering. I just received my very first ever Dutch Oven in the mail and was curious about that photo I saw. My oven's lid can be used as a frying pan so could technically be used upside down I suppose.

Funny (embarrassing?) that after almost 40 years of marriage, I finally decided to get a Dutch Oven. :lau

Well, shoot. Wish I had seen this before I spent $400 on my 22-lb. Challenger bread pan ... although it nicely holds a 2-lb loaf of sourdough, it is a bit scary to handle at times.
