Morning Home Bakers making apple squares.
Old Wisconsin 1961 cookbook.
to me it is the old apple crisp made by my Grandma.
Sounds good!
 
called apple Squares
Peel and core 6 apples.
Add to 1 cup Sugar1 tbsp cinnamon.
Stirring time to time.
Mix as a pie crust.

Beat 2 egg yolks, add to make 2/3 cup milk
2 1/2 cup flour
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup shortening

Mix crust like pie split in half.
Use a 6 x 9 pan add 1/2 crust to bottom of pan.
Add 1 cup of crushed corn flakes
Layer apples add rest of crust to the top.

This is it, the final test for the Dutch oven formula I came up with.

It is 92°F today, and I have 10 coals on the top and 5 on the bottom, according to the formula. I will know in 1 hour if it is successful.

If the dish comes out perfectly, then I will know for a fact that the formula will work all the time and it’s completely accurate for calculating Dutch oven temperature with charcoal briquettes.

If it fails, there’s an unknown variable I need to figure out.

We will know in one hour.
