Any Home Bakers Here?

Expecting temp. around 30 on Friday ( I must dig out my dahlias !!!) today we had lots of rain , my hubby is hosting his belated birthday party ( his mother died 1 week before his actual birthday this year) today, so I was busy preparing food all day, baked some puff pastry apple roses and vegetable buns with yeast dough and cheese filling( they are in the oven right now and not rising like they should 😩) I was thinking about spraying some water in the oven, and didn’t do it, my mistake 🙈

Everything looks great! Do you have a recipe for the roses you can share?

I'm starting my shopping list too. I plan to go on Sunday, or maybe Monday. Hope to do a one-and-done trip, as multiple trips are a hassle.

Hubby has 5-6 days to think of anything else he wants from the store.

He has asked that I don't get a GF pie crust like I did last year. (He likes pie crust, and thought the GF was very sub-standard.) So he gets a pie and I'll have some lemon curd topped with meringue in a small ramekin.

Easy, cut 2 sheets of puff pastry into a total of 12 strips, ( each sheets makes 6 strips) mix 6 tablespoons of apricot jam ( I used quince jelly) with vanilla ( I cut open 2 pods and used the inside) and smear on the puff pastry, halve and core 6 apples and slice into fine slices, boil covered in water, 6 tablespoons of sugar and a few spritzes of lemon for 2 minutes ( they shouldn’t be mushy, just soft) , drain in a sieve

then layer them on each half of a strip, fold strip over and roll into a bun, put each bun into a muffin tin which has been buttered, bake at 180 C fan/convector oven for 30-35 minutes, let cool in muffin tin, carefully remove and put some powdered sugar on top
