Any Home Bakers Here?

Do any of you get the urge to cook/bake in adverse weather?

We're getting tropical storm rain and wind today/tomorrow, so I decided to make crock pot pork chops, placed between layers of pickled red cabbage. It's totally an experiment, but as the meat has been in my freezer for three years it doesn't matter if they are inedible.

In the last few months I have been slow-cooking meat taken from the depths of my freezer, and the results have been good, no freezer-burn taste at all. I wonder if using sauerkraut and pickled cabbage as part of the cooking process is improving the taste?
You are cooking GREAT. I bake every week....for the family.
In the Winter add baking for neighbors. ALWAYS SOURDOUGH.

I'm planning on trying sourdough. I just started baking bread a couple months ago, still getting used to the process.

It is more Work...keeping the Sourdough Strong...But well
worth it. Best for digestion and makes a difference in the
taste. Ron mailed me the SDS and I have been baking Sourdough since September 2016.

What kind of adverse weather? There have been times where I knew a bad storm was moving in and baked oatmeal cookies or something else I could eat cold in case the power went out.
Incoming hurricane, snowstorm, that kind of weather.

No doubt! That’s a great idea! Pepperoncini peppers and brine are yummy as well ! Dill pickle brine…

Good evening, everyone.

I got some homemade Colby in the cheese press. I need to wake up at five in the morning to take it out. As you can probably guess, I miscalculated the time it took to make it.

Once it’s waxed, it’ll be about 2 to 3 months before it’s done aging.

I have to say, I’ve never had Colby before. This will be interesting.
