Jared, seizures can be totally unrelated to epilepsy.I think I had a seizure. It doesn’t make any sense, because I have not been diagnosed with epilepsy.
In 2011, my husband had a grand mal seizure while in bed, about 4am. Freaked. Me. Out. I called 911, he went to the ER, the whole bit.
We went to the doctor, and he said to monitor how he felt, but if it happened again, he'd need to see a neurologist. It happened again 3 months later.
The resulting MRI showed nothing abnormal. Nothing. But since then, he has been on an anti-seizure med. And nothing has happened since. No seizures at all.
I think he had had a couple petit mal seizures -- while driving!!! -- before the first grand mal. He'd probably had others, but I didn't notice. He said sometimes, his brain "felt weird" and that's the only way he could describe it.
Yes, seizures can indicate serious problems. But not always. Take heart, my friend. You are in my thoughts. Sending hugs.
