Has anyone ever had Sacher torte? The cake's similar to that recipe, lots of eggs, real chocolate, but you put a layer of apricot jam on the top before sluicing more chocolate all over it. It's really dense and rich though, you can't eat more than a sliver without feeling like you need to lie down to recover.

I need to get my kitchen sorted so I can make a cake. I haven't made a cake in aeons. Looking at pictures online really just isn't the same

I made it. I didn't like the cake part so I now use the apricot filling on other cakes

It's very "heavy" compared to other types of cake.

I'm not overly keen (by itself) BUT it is lovely on the torte, it isn't (as) "sweet" like other jams, it goes really well with the chocolate. It's a really nice combination.

Never had one, but it sounds delightful. I really love most fruit/chocolate combos! Do you make them? Have a good recipe?
