    You can use round steak for real beef stroganoff.

    Classic Beef Stroganoff

    • Prep Time 20 min
    • Total Time 38 min
    • Servings 6
    Ingredients
    1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin steak, 1/2 inch thick
    8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced (2 1/2 cups)
    2 medium onions, thinly sliced
    1 garlic clove, finely chopped
    1/4 cup butter or margarine
    1 1/2 cups Progresso[IMG] beef flavored broth (from 32-ounce carton)
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    1/4 cup Gold Medal[IMG] all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 cups sour cream
    3 cups hot cooked egg noodles
    Directions
    • Cut beef across grain into about 1 1/2x1/2-inch strips.
    • Cook mushrooms, onions and garlic in butter in 10-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender; remove from skillet.
    • Cook beef in same skillet until brown. Stir in 1 cup of the broth, the salt and Worcestershire sauce. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
    • Stir remaining 1/2 cup broth into flour; stir into beef mixture. Add onion mixture; heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in sour cream; heat until hot (do not boil). Serve over noodles.

    Hello! I introduced myself here probably 6 weeks + ago, but we just moved and I have been super busy. The new house is more or less put together, so I baked bread tonight. I haven't made any in ages, but it turned out great. A few months ago, I must have bought a bum jar of yeast. After three failed attempts at this well used recipe, I got discouraged and gave up for a while. Just bought some new yeast packets, and now I am good to go!

    It is the most simple recipe, no kneading, and the dough gets rolled out flat and then rolled up like a jelly roll before a last 30 minute rise (pretty sure I saw the same recipe posted on this thread, but I can post it if anyone is interested). Before I did the jelly-roll part, I sprinkled on some salt, fresh ground pepper, dried basil and oregano, parmesan cheese, and a tiny touch of garlic powder. I had some with butter (quality control, you know), and it was so tasty. Tomorrow, we will use it for tuna melts with sharp cheddar for lunch.

    I was in a baking mood, so I made some dog biscuits, too. Beef flavored, but I did it the lazy way and used some Better Than Bouillion for the flavoring. The dogs don't seem to mind my laziness, though.[IMG]

    Edit: Recently, my husband has been making noise about how much he loves beef stroganoff, so I will definitely have to try out one of the above recipes. It's not my favorite meal, but he will be ever so pleased.

    Hi @happy-bird , nice to have you back! Congrats on getting a new place, that is a lot of work.

    Your bread with the seasonings sounds good, I'd like to see your recipe.

    @ronott1 , thank you for the stroganoff recipe! It doesn't look too hard, I'll give it a try next week for DH's b-day and let you know how it turns out. Might not post a picture though, stroganoff photos just aren't that pretty, lol.

    @happy-bird

    I would love to see the no-knead bread recipe.

    Also, would like to hear how you do the tuna melts.

    Glad you are back on-line.

    @NorthFLChick

    Good luck on the Stroganoff….but IMO it will be easier than the things you bake.
