I'm going to have to go buy molasses. My son would love to make some cookies and we have a ton of Christmas cookie cutters! I got a huge bag of cookie cutters at a yardsale in the summer

These are too cute to eat…the ones you make will of course taste better. Bet the red hearts are the hard cinnamon candy, I always liked them on cookies, but most people don't like biting into the hard stuff.

Thanks for info…I bought some cinnamon smelling pinecones. Put the skinny tree in a wooden box, stuffed box with newspaper, covered that with old green kitchen towels and topped with the pine cones….smells wonderful and fits the rustic look I wanted. Instead of the cinnamon ornaments thinking about making felt chickens or chicken stockings to hang on the tree. And still have my first 3 small eggs (blown out and washed in 2013) and thinking about clear decoupage and ornament hanger and hanging those on the tree?Do you have a Wal-Mart close by? Yesterday I saw a large plastic container of cinnamon sticks there, the brand was Badia, and I think the price was about $5. They had smaller containers too for around $2. The store I saw them at had their Badia spices in with the ethnic foods (not the other spices).
If you do make some of these ornaments, I'd love to see them! Homemade ornaments are the best.![]()
Actually I ordered the blackstrap molasses for my home made flock block...Oh I'll just buy what they have. I've never made molasses or gingerbread cookies, so will just try it out. Ordering cooking ingredients is to much work for me! Haha

But for baking - the groceries will have 2 types…the lighter type - Grandma's original - is for sweetening tea, coffee, etc. I bought it by mistake. The dark or robust is best for baking. The blackstrap is better for baking beans, making chicken flock blocks, or gingerbread houses.
No, I don't make their food..but made them a treat block…Was a mess, didn't hold together, but they love it…the batch made enough for daily treats for a week. Next time I hope it will have more body so I can hang small treat blocks to entertain them. When I get the recipe improved, I'll post.Ok good to know, I'll get the darker one. I could try one of the natural food stores and see what they have. This is my first shot. You make your own chicken food? Your like super woman!
