Any Home Bakers Here?

First thing to make with a Kitchen Aid mixer is bread!! It makes bread so easy, you will be an instant convert.
With the KA , I make my bread dough a little softer than I did when I made it by hand but I think it is a better bread this way. So I was making it wrong before.
If you don't want to go all the way to the dark side and make yeast bread, try the casserole cheese bread recipe that I posted.

HI everyone, I have been lurking on this for a while and decided to join in. I just received my very first Kitchen Aid stand mixer for Christmas. I am so excited to start using it. We had xmas eve, xmas and New Years day open house here so there are a lot of baked goods, etc still around. Looking for some ideas on what to make with it first!!. I am an avid baker and cook and am so excited to be here with you all. Happy New Year.

You got it! I'll put it on here tomorrow (stormy weather is making for slow response time).

Couldn't decide between the pastry bag or rolling mat, so just got them ordered at KA's site…and a pastry fork too..Will be making a pie when they get here.

Give us a review when you get your stuff. I love new baking things.

I made some Gump Bread today, but subbed 2 cups of whole wheat instead of bread flour, so 2 c ww flour and 3 c bread flour. Turned out good, as it always does with this recipe.

For supper tried these: http://www.pillsbury.com/recipes/grands-mini-chicken-pot-pies/0e592952-6d19-403c-b156-882da7be33cf

Now, I don't get why there is absolutely NO seasoning in the recipe. I used a peas-and-carrots mixture rather than other mixed veggies. The only seasoning would be in the cream of chicken soup if I followed this to a "T", so I added onion powder, freshly ground pepper and a few pinches of poultry seasoning to it. It was pretty good, actually, tastes like chicken pot pie. Easy to do. Didn't take a picture of mine, but here is the photo on the recipe.

Bad weather cleared up so here you go with the recipe!

PIZZA DOUGH
3 1/2 - 4 Cups bread flour
1 tsp sugar
2 1/4 tsp of instant dry yeast (1 package)
2 tsp kosher salt
1 1/2 Cups water (no hotter than 110 degrees)
2 Tab olive oil (plus bit extra for greasing bowl)

Combine flour, sugar, yeast & salt in mixer bowl & combine.
With mixer running, add water & 2 Tab olive oil. Beat until dough forms a ball.
Scrape dough onto lightly floured surface & gently knead into smooth, firm ball.
Oil large bowl, add dough & cover.
Put in warm place to rise until double (approx. 1 hour)
Turn dough onto lightly floured surface & divide into 2 equal pieces. Cover & let rest 10 minutes.

At that point, you can put 1 piece of dough into a floured freezer baggie for later and use 1 right away for a large thin crust dough.
To make our pizzas, we have the oven pre-heating to 450 degrees while we stretch the dough onto a stone. Pile on sauce, cheese, meat and veggies (DH insists that order!).
When the oven is at temp, we put it in and bake about 25 minutes. YUM!
When you want to use the frozen dough, get it out of the freezer several hours early, put on counter & thaw. The dough will slowly rise as it warms, so if your bag is getting too full, slightly open it.

speckledhen, that looks like a tasty dinner idea. You're right about the lack of spices being odd. You added some good ones.

Thanks so much, looks better than one I have tried in past.
