Any Home Bakers Here?

@NorthFLChick , Thanks. I try to read and keep up my best. Just haven't been commenting. I have made some sourdough bread, so have done a little baking and I canned 47 jars of applesauce over the weekend. Hoping to be able to keep up better next month. The last few months have been busy. I'm looking at all the ideas because I have to make some goodies for the cake walk for my sons schools carnival.

Aww, school carnivals. I used to love those when my boys were small, they were always so much fun and the kids loved them.

Although there was that year I got stuck (literally) being the only caramel apple maker and the other volunteers didn't show up. What a mess! Fortunately, my sister was visiting and she jumped in to save me. We ended up with goo up to our elbows, apple juice in our hair and laughed the whole time. Wow, I haven't thought about that for a long time...thanks for reminding me!

may all of you lucky enough to have family and children for all the trials never forget how blessed you are not to be alone for laughter and tears for you are truly blessed.

Just went into town to pick up some groceries and I got the stuff to make the witches hats and the ghost Nutter Butters. I'm going to change up the hats a bit and use dark chocolate cookies and kisses and orange frosting for the kiss "glue". I'm hoping the orange frosting will ooze out a bit around the kiss for kind of a hat band look. The little local store didn't have mini Nilla Wafers so won't do the acorns now (but I really would like to try them around Thanksgiving).

Those sound like fun, please post pics when you get the hats done.

@Alice28 You canned 47 jars of applesauce over the weekend, WOW

That's a lot of applesauce, I only accomplished 12 pints! And never got around to making fried apple pies :(

I just want to say that all the Halloween treats are just adorable! It's been a busy week here so I haven't done any baking myself, but Halloween is one of my favorite holidays so I'll be doing something festive in the next week! We live in a really rural area now so I don't have any trick or treaters to look forward to. Dh works till 7 Halloween day.... might have to celebrate all by myself!

Hi @KatharinetheGr8 ! Our situation is similar to yours. The little boy that lives across the road, the old couple down the road and the 2 grandkids of our friends will get a few things. Any leftovers are all ours! (Not that we need them but I plan to make sure the treats are something we like

I'll send some of our trick or treaters over to you! Lol. We get around 500. I bought around 500 trick or treat items (I don't do candy, we hand out halloween rings/stickers/toys ect.) and then realize halloween is on a Saturday! That means trick or treaters will start coming early and will keep coming late. I had to go back to the store and now I have around 1000 items to hand out. We usually trick or treat for a little bit, come home to hand stuff out and then go again with friends who come by.

Wow! 500-1000 trick or treaters! There aren't even 250 people who live in our little village! What fun! I'm a little envious! I'll get a bag of candy, just in case. But I'll end up eating it myself!
