It's amazing! Great job!
Thanks, it was loads of fun. But photographing over and thru the chicken wire was the real challenge.

I looked up "gingerbread house glue" on Pinterest and this one claims to work well.
5cups powdered sugar
3egg whites

Mix together in large bowl. Beat 3 minutes with hand mixer. Icing should be smooth.
That's going to be a little too dry to work with. Here's my recipe that came with my GB mold:

Royal Icing:

3 egg whites at room temp.
3/4 tsp cream of tartar
1 pound confectioner sugar - sifted ( that's about 4 cups)

Mix on high speed 7-10 minutes - beat until stiff - you can't overbeat it.

* Store at room temp in airtight bowl - I also add a layer of Saran Wrap right on top of it before closing up in a bowl. It will keep over a week.
*Even with this ratio of sugar to eggs it can be too dry to squeeze out of pastry decorating tips - just add some water to get the consistency you want.
* I use Meringue Powder in place of the eggs - 3 TBS of the powder + 6 TBS of warm water will equal 3 egg whites and adds a vanilla flavoring and smell to the icing.

sunflour
your GBHouse is amazing!
It looks more chocolatey than mine how did you get that nice dark color?

I am really feeling intimidated now

Way to raise the bar!

Guess I will have to keep practicing for next year.

Black Strap Molasses - I found one for making Chicken Flock Block that is quite tasty and used that. And baked in a cast iron mold until just before burning - to make sure it would be rock hard.

Don't be intimidated - I bought Play Dough and practiced watching You Tube videos to learn to do the chickens, hats, scarfs…..but the Snow Angel was my original idea and creation

I gave your entry an ovation!
Thanks, that means a lot to me. It was a really fun challenge.

Keep your fingers crossed it turns out , baking Rustic Olive Sourdough Bread - This doesn't use the Dutch Oven, just shaped in a big ball and baked.

But gonna do Chili in the DO for supper to go with the bread..

I've got a loaf rising right now....fresh bread and fried walleye tonight....taking it to my wife's work for her and her co workers for dinner.

Must just be a bread baking kind of day! We made six loaves, but only one is staying here, the rest goes home with the kids.
