Sadly no crackers today,
I started feeling really bad about half way through my laying box project.
I told DH this is what happens When Wacky Children Give there Wonky ma tools.

I get to make a wacky wonky Laying box.


The other boxes are so high up I had a Brahma once that hurt herself jumping down from one.
I put a cheep TSC box on the floor for her but that one is in the broody coop with occupants right now.
So I just used scraps and put it low and the best thing Is Kaylee will be able to check it with out being lifted to the roost to walk the line of boxes.
She loves to do it though!




We got the wonky tools out for a low roost and Kaylee and Fatboy played in the boxes

She is laying an egg. and thought it would be cool if Fatboy would too!

Thank you NFC. I think she is as pretty as a picture. That is my Granddaughter she comes to play with her "CrazyLady" 2 days a week while her parents work.

She lets me know how old I really am!

However with all this cold yuck we are having it has been a day saver to come here she loves the chicken pictures and the fact that we can find yummy things to bake on the chicken site thrills her! I am hoping to get her into 4H soon she already keeps her Ladies at My house since HOA said NO CHICKENS where she lives. She has 2 white Leghorns named Chick-o-lettas and a production red we call Cinnamon (Named after her mommy had a bad day at work) She has been tending them with me for 2 years almost already, and Always thanks them for their hard work when we collect eggs. She gets her pick of the 9 remaining unclaimed Chicks from Christmas. She is partial to Aurora the only yellow one. (1 has been claimed by my son already, they play xbox together)

Rambling is good...ramble away! Sorry about the mix-up (daughter/granddaughter). She's going to be an expert with poultry by the time she's grown...lucky girl to have all that experience.

Buddy Boy's PB Sweet Potato Cookies (Canine Treats)

• 6 cups Flour
• 8 cups Oatmeal
• 1/4 cups Bran Flakes
• 4 Tblsp. Coconut Flakes
• 1 Tblsp. Baking Powder
• 7 cups Sweet Potatoes
• 5 Tblsp. Blackstrap Molasses
• 5 Tblsp. Peanut Butter
• 4 Tblsp. Vegetable Oil
• 2 cups Water

Preheat oven 350degrees.
Boil sweet potatoes until tender, drain water and mash.
Combine flour, oatmeal, bran and baking powder in bowl. Add sweet potatoes, molasses, pb, coconut and oil. Add lukewarm water 1 cup at a time. Continue til batter is smooth and there are no lumps left. Lightly flour work surface, roll dough to 1/4" thickness. Cut out. Bake 35min.

****Notes:
The recipe makes 5 lbs. of cookies!! I usually half the recipe!!!
I shred my sweet potatoes, makes them easier to mash and I don't drain them. I don't overwater while boiling, but use the liquid in the potatoes to help flavor the cookies a bit more. Also stir in the pb, molasses, oil and coconut in the cooking mashed potatoes, it's easier to get it mixed together (at least for me). I use"natural" pb, no sugar added and whole wheat flour. I'm sure you could substitute whatever flour you normally use. I've thought about using pumpkin sometime, cause he like pumpkin too. I put some in a container in the fridge and the rest in the freezer. He loves them!

It could probably be tweaked to make a "human treat", it would need salt for sure, they are somewhat bland. When they first come out they are slightly soft, but when cooled they are hard and crunchy just like Buddy Boy likes 'em.

They sound good to me, Buddy Boy has to be a wonderfully spoiled pet
