Morning @sunflour !

We're almost out of bread so probably do that. But your cinnamon rolls sound like a better idea! Can't remember if you said or not, did you freeze the rolls baked or unbaked?

Baked but not iced. The first thaw and warm turned out fantastic, will see how these do.

BTW, have you seen this: post #1 . Contest to guess the number of eggs to set for upcoming hatch, dd donated two gorgeous totes for prizes

This is my mother's recipe. It began as a much larger recipe, I quartered it. So perhaps it came from a school? Or church function?

Bread pudding
Makes 8×8 pan

1/3 cup raisins
2 1/2 TBSP oleo
2 eggs
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg (I hate nutmeg, leave it out and double cinnamon)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. Almond extract (not part of original recipe, personal preference)
Bread (the recipe does not come with an amout, I imagine this is because it depends on the bread. Roughly 10 slices, I used 1 failed loaf)

Grease pan. Sprinkle raisins in bottom of pan. Spread bread over raisins in the pan. Mix all ingredients togeather and pour over bread. Cover and Bake at 350 until firm, about 45 min. Top with vanilla pudding or lemon glaze (we like vanilla ice cream)

@OrganicFarmWife thanks for sharing the recipe. It sounds like a good way to use left over bread. Now if I can only keep DH from eating it all. I wonder what the bread pudding would taste like if it was made with challah?

Yes I think it is one of those recipes that was created so as not to waste leftover bread (they never wasted any thing) Works well for failed bread too ;)
