Thanks for the notice. Boy those past winners have great talent. This would be so much more difficult than Gingerbread ,IMO.

You can free shape bread--like french bread.

I bake rounds in my porcelain dutch oven.
You can use your bread dough to make rolls and use a cupcake/muffin tin or cake pan.

You can also just free form a loaf on a baking sheet (I put parchment paper over the baking sheet first).
thanks! i guess i will try to make little buns then. i have a question how much flour is in 1 1/2 pounds. the recipe calls for 1 1/2 pounds and didnt say how many cups that is. i have looked it up in google but i cant get a straight answer some say 4 cups some say 4 1/2. i dont have any flour on me right now or a food scale so i cant check.

The Pita Bread turned out good. I got 10 pitas from the recipe. I love this stuff - it is pretty easy and it keeps in the freezer very well if you have extras. All the mixing and kneading is done by the Kitchenaid mixer. DH is looking forward to egg salad sandwiches in Pita halves.

Pita Bread

1 tbsp yeast
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 c warm water
4 1/2 c bread flour
2 tsp salt
1 c warm water
1 tbsp olive oil

Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1/2 c. warm water.

Dissolve salt in 1 c. warm water. Add flour and yeast mix, knead for 10 min.
Add olive oil, knead until oil is dissolved.
Shape into a ball in the bowl, cover, and place in warm area to rise. When doubled in size, punch down dough and knead for 5 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350° and lightly oil baking sheets.
Take pieces of dough slightly larger than an egg and roll out on a floured surface to a thickness of 3/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Prick with a fork.
Place on baking sheet and bake for 2-3 minutes. Flip and bake 2-3 minutes more. Remove from oven and place on a tray covered with a clean towel, cover with another towel. They will not be browned.

When completely cool, store in a plastic bag in the fridge or freezer.

Before using, brown in a lightly oiled frying pan for a few minutes until brown on both sides. We like to use ghee or a good olive oil in the pan.
Sounds like a good recipe to try!

I didn't take pictures, but I made these this week. Very simple and tasty as well.

Well I have pickled my Beetroot and they are in their bottles cooling as I type :-). The bottles were deceivingly large. My whole crop fit in two bottles! Think next time I'll plant twice as many and use half the size bottles! Hopefully they pass the taste test too!

Is anyone making/baking anything special for Valentine's Day?

I found this pan set on sale at Michael's and thought I'd make a chocolate cake, frosting the layers alternating coconut and chocolate frosting. I hope the 5 layers don't slip all over (maybe use bamboo skewers to hold it up?). Any advice in case things get slippery?

Use a kabob stick or two, You can cut them off at the top of the cake and then frost.
