Any Home Bakers Here?

Glad you found what you needed.

Personally I never liked canned beets - but love fresh baked ones.  We haven't grown them for a couple of years, your posts made me think about planting some in my Fall garden :D

But just wondering - what else can you do with fresh beets other than canning or baking :idunno

I've grated them into salads and it tastes nice but does make everything pink :)

We've all grown up on canned Beetroot on hamburgers so anything else just doesn't taste right :). I would have been in my 30's before I tasted a fresh one.

And while I say tastes like the store ones I mean the same pickling flavour. The actual finished product was much nicer of course :)

I use a sauce pan and a stainless steel steamer insert. The insert can go into the dishwasher for easy cleanup.

I do have a double pot intended for pasta I could try, thanks

Do you mean grated raw on salads ?

My DH love canned beets, my family never served those, guess it's an acquired taste:)

CuzChickens, glad you joined the thread.

Those cinnamon rolls look awesome - they are my personal favorite.

Do you bake for the business at home or have a store front?

Congrats on getting your own flock - I never knew how much better baked goods were with really fresh eggs til I got my own flock.
Thanks for the welcome sunflour! I bake for business at home. I love having my own flock and cooking with their eggs, it is like combining two of my favorite things ever!

Glad you enjoy baking for fun and business. I have always thought turning a hobby into a business would make it less fun and over time become just a job

King Arthur Flour sent me an email this morning about a bake a long for September:

The Muffins look great--I will be trying them soon.

The muffins do look good!

Last week I pulled all the winter squashes from the garden in preparation for fall/winter. I had over 40pumpkins, not to mention the Acorn and Butternut squash. So a nice recipe will come in handy.

I also have tons of potatoes, have been canning some of those. But the squash will store for a while, the rest I will freeze. I already made my rounds to neighbors and family and just sort of said "here's some squash" and ran for the car
