I haven't been baking a lot. I know I shared one dog biscuit recipe with you, here's another I use when I'm lazy

or pressed for time and don't want to make a large batch.

As you know, I'm one to substitute ingredients, so this time around I used Acorn Squash puree instead of pumpkin. I know I have pumpkin in the lower regions of my freezer, but I saw the Acorn squash first! I've also used mashed sweet potatoes in this recipe as well. I think applesauce or even pureed carrots would be good too - depends on what your Pal likes. Buddy seems to love them all, so...

I do recommend that you keep what you will use in the fridge they have no preservatives. I keep some in the fridge, the rest in the freezer.

The only other thing I have been really making is Oat Bran muffins. Again, I sort of do my own thing. I use the basic recipe and add what ever I have - things like coconut, raisins, nuts, etc. This is easy and adaptable as well. Enjoy!

I don't think I will ever be able to read through all the pages! I have had my hands full with other things, so have not been on for months. I tried looking here and there, but I was overwhelmed by how far behind in all the forums I am

. I'm going to look through a bit and maybe see about a recipe to try with the boys this weekend.

I do have some good news...... my sons adoption was finalized on Tuesday!!!! Only took five months longer then expected

Awesome news!

So hey hey felllow bakers! I am ready to start baking again! I just retired from my full time job at age 42. Now my focus is my 7 & 12 year old, and my husband and chickens. Do you use bread machine or old fashioned method? I don't have a machine, but want to bake!!!!
I use both the bread machine and by hand. As a busy teacher with two kids and the farm, my time is at a premium. As such I mostly use the bread machine to help with kneading. I don't often bake in the machine. During the summer and during breaks I love to bake by hand using my dutch oven and my treager grill. Pizza dough put in the bread machine when I get home can be rolled into pizza dough by time I finish barn chores. I also use it as first knead with yeast rolls, beignets etc. That being said, it does take up a good bit of space on the counter. If I had more time I would probably use it a lot less.

Kneading is still very theraputic

I finally finished my Amish friendship bread. OMGosh it is wonderful! Now to find friends who will take the 4 bags that came from it..LOL none of mine want to deal with it.

Do you have pics? Love to see what y'all are baking.

I did bake a lemon pie ( the easy one with sweetened condensed milk and graham cracker crust) yesterday. Had to use store bought eggs

and the is definitely a difference in the rise.
