Any Home Bakers Here?

okay back from taking the kid to SS office getting some nonsense they sent also went to the kitchen store looking at a new stand mixer.. I have a 30's vintage sunbeam mixmaster I have used ever since I was a kid it is bogging down starting to do any bread or cakes Was looking at kitchen aid 350.00 minimum the smaller ones are under powered.. We looked at a hamilton beach stand mixer cheap looks like thing would bend if used.... gave up went to Wally Sunbeam mixmaster 350 50.00 on sale the kitchen aid where 275 watt so bought another sunbeam mixmaster
I hope it works well for you. I had a $80 mixer that just didn’t have the power I needed to mix cookie doughs so I gave it to my niece who was starting to get into baking and I bought a kitchen aid. It was $350 but it was worth it.

Not sure which model of Hamilton Beach I have (too lazy to get up and look), but I bought one about 5 years ago, and it works great! I use it for lots of heavy duty jobs, like making cookies, as well as mixing & kneading bread dough, and it has no problems at all. I'm really happy with it, and even happier because I paid quite a lot less for it than I would have for a Kitchen aid. We couldn't afford to spend over $300.00 for a mixer, so even though I would have liked one, a KA was out of the question.

I knew that BF would buy the kitchen aid but darn the sunbeam has more power than refurbished units for 185.00 we are retired not rich but not dirt poor it was my choice to go for the one a name I have trusted since I was a child.. I do like I can also dismount the mixer from the stand if I so choose and because my glass bowls are interchangeable I have two full size mixing bowls

Are you talking about where you pit a whole date, replace the seed with a pecan, close it up and roll it in sugar?

I know that was addressed to @sfgwife but had to say thanks for reminding me of those Bob...my mom used to make the dates like you describe for Christmas, always one of my favorites!

I had my mom’s old sunbeam with the glass bowls and it had the beaters with the center stem(super sturdy)loved it even though it was old but it died. My mom baked a lot with 12 children. My replacement was a sunbeam with flimsy beaters...no middle stem. I think that was most of that mixers problem.

A few of the people I clean for gave me bonuses for Christmas one year and that’s how I payed for half of it which was awesome or I wouldn’t have had it either.

I love my Kitchen Aid mixer. And I especially like the color of it...one year KA made them in pink and $50 of the purchase price was donated to the Susan G. Komen cancer research fund. It's been the best investment for me and I liked the idea that the donation was involved (having had several friends with breast cancer).
