Any Home Bakers Here?

Hello,

@ronott1, have you heard the story that I referred to as "the cursed soup?" I posted it here once. It was a crockpot taco soup, just like what you are making.

Here's hoping the curse hasn't passed on to someone else.

Anyway, pictures of my goose hunt, as promised.

I, (the one in the picture,) got the largest one on the right, my hunting partner got the two smaller ones.

Thanksgiving Dinner!
I believe you will be especially interested in this.
Monkey bread (autocorrect wants that to be poop) isn’t just a sticky dessert! For Thanksgiving dinner, replace the usual rolls! You can try just butter. OR butter and garlic (powder or cloves!). OR add Parmesan.
Diced or mini pepperoni and mozzarella sprinkled every few layers can be a great side dish too!

All recipes sent me an email with “10 Impressive Looking Thanksgiving Appetizers” that are all five ingredients or less, and easy enough to make. The stuffed brie with cranberries and walnuts is made more difficult than it needs to be (their way: smush cranberries on one piece, walnuts in the other, and sandwich together as fast as possible! Easy way: add walnuts, sprinkle cranberries on top, add the other piece of cheese), but everything looks great!

The Taco soup is very good!

I added half a teaspoon of chipotle chili to it.

the next time I make it I will fry the onions first. They are still crunch...The DW likes them but I preferred them cooked more

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Recipe By:RaisinKane aka Patti

"You can call this soup or chili, but either way it is wonderful! This recipe is also very adaptable to your personal taste. I recommend using Bill Echols' Taco Seasoning from this website. Serve topped with shredded Cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and crushed tortilla chips, if you like. I hope you enjoy!"

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (16 ounce) can chili beans
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans
  • 1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
  • 2 (10 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
  • 1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning
  • 1\2 tsp cumin
  • 1\2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3 whole skinless, boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)
  • sour cream (optional)
  • crushed tortilla chips (optional)
Directions

  1. Place the onion, chili beans, black beans, corn, tomato sauce, beer, and diced tomatoes in a slow cooker. Add taco seasoning, and stir to blend. Lay chicken breasts on top of the mixture, pressing down slightly until just covered by the other ingredients. Set slow cooker for low heat, cover, and cook for 5 hours.
  2. Remove chicken breasts from the soup, and allow to cool long enough to be handled. Stir the shredded chicken back into the soup, and continue cooking for 2 hours. Serve topped with shredded Cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and crushed tortilla chips, if desired

  1. Used beef stock instead of beer
    added chipotle chili--half a teaspoon
  2. will fry onions in the future

Hello,

@BullChick, that monkey bread sounds really good, I might just try it. Do you have any specific recipe that might be good?

@ronott1, glad the curse has not passed on to you. When I made crockpot taco soup, no matter where we put it, it always spilled. That was the curse. No matter what precautions we took, it always spilled.

I bet it tastes really good!

@penny1960, thanks for the kind comment.

That big Goose has a surprisingly large amount of meat on it. Its about as big as a store-bought goose. Maybe bigger. Took me a good hour to get all the feathers off that Goose alone.

Anyway, it's in the freezer waiting for Thanksgiving.
