I made shortbread cookies last evening with my cookie stamps. They are a slightly darker shading than what the traditional shortbread looks like, because I used whole cane sugar (AKA rapadura), instead of white sugar.

Pretty cookies! Maybe the darker shade of them makes the stamp pattern show up better.

I didn't think of that. I'll be making some with white sugar to give away, so I'll have to compare.

I used a cookie stamp for the 1st time last year and the instructions called for warming the stamp up to press into dough. Do you warm your stamp up before using it?

I didn't much like warming mine up as the handle is just a little nub and it got too hot to handle.

I didn't warm it, or do anything to it. I read this morning on a website (while ordering a jam thumbprint stamp) to dip the stamp in flour before using. I'm going to try that next time. In the tiny areas dough had gotten stuck.

I can’t find my old (like I think my grandparents used them) cookie cutters, so Duckling is gonna get lots of flour up her nose today!
:( She isn’t an angel today, so I might need to add extra vodka homemade vanilla extract to half, and eat raw dough. Or caramel vodka. :drool
