<sigh> I need friends. You guys will have to do.
KitchenAid accessories have rotten reviews because they have switched to plastic. The covers getting bad reviews is interesting (bad stitching, too short and/or too tight), but I am getting one regardless. It’s the shield I’m going nuts about. I’ve found other brands that hook onto the bowl. One is even metal. The issue is that they don’t surround the bowl like the KA.
So, my BYC peeps, do you have/like the newer plastic non-gripping pouring shield?
I rarely use mine, but let me take a look at what's out there.

About the only thing I use the shield for is making butter. If memory serves, I liked it on my artisan, but not thrilled with it on my pro. Like @wyoDreamer I stop the mixer add and then restart it.

I bought the shield same time as the mixer have used it a few times as was learning how to add flower without it throwing it all over :giga trick not learned easily slow and easy does work also found when starting mix fast then slow to add flour slow turning speed up as you go.. also the mixer cage does better at getting the bottom but at intervals turn off
lift unlock head using spatula verify all is mixed

I don't even know where my pouring shield is. I used it once or twice on my first mixer and then never bothered again.
I stop the mixer, add what I need to, then start the mixer again.
At least I know where my pouring shield is, I accidentally found it when looking for something else after not having seen it for years. Like you, I tried it a couple of times and then put it away for good.

I almost waited until I could afford the pro. As it is, I missed out on the Artisan color I wanted by a few minutes (Chrome!!).

I am happy to have what I do (soon will). The first thing I’m going to make is almond biscotti. I don’t think I’ve made biscotti in over 25 years!!
Okay, cooling it on the accessories.

LOL, glad "we'll do" BC :gig. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about the shield. I've never used it.

In case anyone is interested...the King Arthur website is having a sale on a lot of products and they also have $2.95 shipping for orders over $29. Good for today only!
