Any Home Bakers Here?

Totally off topic but is anyone here savvy with sewing machines? Mine has recently started breaking needles, like nonstop. Doesn't matter how strong or weak the needle is, it just keeps snapping them off. I think they're hitting the metal plate under the for but I'm not pulling or pushing on the fabric. It's becoming infuriating. I totally destroyed 6 needles in 2 days, trying to go slow and carefully as I could.

Would you pm me need a age brand model # and photos please

@Auroradream26 I had that happen to my sewing machine a long time ago - can't remember if it was my first sewing machine (Brother) or the one I have now (Kenmore). I cleaned it out really good - found a mass of fibers had felted behind the shaft in the top portion and was pushing the needle off center AND the fibers had built up in the crack around the baseplate and the plate was not sitting properly. It was really weird but I had sewn a quilt for my nephew using really cheap flannel.

Take the foot off and rotate the wheel by hand and see if you can see what is making the needle hit. Is the base plate installed correctly and not loose. Possibly the mechanism that holds the needle is bent a little.

The tension control is likely off or the cam setting for the plate. There should be a stitch setting for different types of stitches too.

Find a you tube video for setting up your model. It is possible that you need to clean up the gears and get 3in1 oil. Someone may have used the wrong type of oil. Spray oils will gum up because of the propellant. you need to use a can with a drip spout

Thank you for the tips. My mom bought and owned it before I did and made sure I knew about the oil, where to oil it and what oil to use so it's not that. I've also messed with the tension and it still messes up, no matter what setting it's on. @penny1960 is helping me and doing a little research. I think she's on to something involving the feed dogs.

Antique Bread Tin.) Aria
That is great Aria!

I am very happy when that starter is loved when I share it with someone.
