It looks like there is a problem with the flour to fat ratio-- too much butter and not enough flour

That was a recipe I posted Penny. Not sure why yours did that unless maybe the butter was melted before mixing? The recipe calls for unsalted but I don't know that that would cause the spreading.

I used unsalted butter that was just barely soft and they didn't spread at all.

I just wanted to see why the cookies spread out. I have that happen all the time.

The basic reason why a cookie spreads out is lack of flour.
