Any Home Bakers Here?

Last night I decided I needed to rebake one of my cookies, the Maple Pecan Swirls. I thought they tasted funny. So I got up and mixed them up again. A double batch again because I was certain something was missing. After mixing, rolling, spreading, slicing, I baked the first batch and ... nothing funny about it at all. Tastes just like the ones I made before!!! :rant Now I have 26 dozen of this one cookie and I don't even really like it!!! :th I liked it last year and the year before.
Valerie, You probably are being TOO critical. The people receiving them will probably appreciate and like them. And are
you a "bit tired"? They are your tried and true recipe and they are fine.

Only change for me would be brown rice nice little recipe cook the rice with chicken broth for mine still getting silkie eggs here too but all of sudden my new ones are laying got 7
I would be inclined to agree on the brown rice. These came out of the forms with a bit of effort and I am sure it was because of my white rice choice. They did hold their shape just fine and next time I do bake this for the dogs I won't be reaching for white rice. Additionally, I will just incorporate the dog food.

Baked at 350 for 20 minutes until the bread thermometer read 200F.

Is anyone bringing some type of dessert?

Don't threaten me with my mom! I've crossed her before and paid the price. :lau

Just send them to me Val, I volunteer to take them off your hands!

You and me both!

I did something I rarely do I baked dinner for the dogs. Made something quichie:
1.5C AP Flour
10 Silkie Eggs
1C White Rice(cooked unsalted)
1C Dog food to Garnish(prebaking)
1.5 tsp salt

Over feeds 4 dogs 45-75lbs in weight.

I bet they don't complain. My egg holder is just getting overly full. View attachment 1982685

My dogs would like that! They had soft boiled eggs last night, ground chicken and carrots tonight. I don't usually bake for them.

We NEVER use white rice for anything in our house. It's been short grain Brown Rice for YEARS. Much better for you and I
always make more...and share with my RIR...they LOVE it.

I need to bring something for the office "Holiday Lunch" on Friday. Offic is supplying beef and chicken for tacos. All the add-on's for tacos are already signed up for, so any ideas for a side dish I could make? Someone already signed up for salsa & chips, taco dip and re-fried beans.

Spanish rice?

There are no spices in this cookie. It's a basic butter cookie spread with a maple pecan spread, rolled and sliced. This one:View attachment 1982632 I always use Tillamook Butter for everything, so it's not that either. I think it's me. But DH just thought they were "pretty good" and he always loves all the cookies. What a frustration. :th

ETA: The batter is butter, flour, superfine sugar, brown sugar, salt and vanilla.

Kinda sad. It's such a beautiful cookie.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong with my short grain brown rice! How much water to 1 c rice should I be using? I used to cook this years ago and loved it, and now I can't cook it at all! I tried 1 c rice to 2 of water, then 1 to 3, and it just stays crunchy, help!
