Where are you in NB @Stepnout? My older daughter is attending Mt. Allison. We've been up a few times, love "Taste of Egypt" in St. John.
I do that when I am hurried but want to make a fast pie
My next adventure is to have my wife teach me to make pie crust. She is very good at it, since leaving work last December I’ve gladly become the baker. I really enjoy the bread, tea biscuit, cakes and cinnamon rolls I’ve been baking. It has paid off having such a great teacher.
lol more than once she has told me she doesn’t like me in HER KITCHEN! I’m a little less tidy But I clean up after myself, just not fast enough for her. Must be a man woman thing she cleans as she goes I wait till I’m done then clean up.
That's really helpful information I'll give this a go. Still waiting for the large jar to bubble again. It a long waitMarie, I do not use the "conversation" on this thread...not sure it works for me. Happy to help. Once you get a strong healthy starter it stays with you. And I find keeping a smaller amount is best. I recently started a second jar to keep it smaller and have when I need MORE in my recipe.
But 2 tablespoons of the strong healthy starter can start up a fresh new starter. I learned this from Elly, a gal in Australia. She uses a very small jar....takes all but 2 tablespoons and uses it...and then adds what she takes out to the very small jar ...back in the refrigerator for next time to use and repeats it. It does work for her and seems very simple. Aria
