Which biscuit recipe are you using? Most of them use baking soda or powder so do not have a first rise

This recipe called for yeast and a rise. It's on the .pdf file page you sent titled "1847 Oregon Trail Sourdough Starter" with the drawing of the covered wagon on the front. May be titled "Brochure." Mire like a roll than a biscuit.

My husband has a half empty glass.

Therefore I have to keep a half full glass to keep my spirits up.

I have often had a "half-empty" glass, or even a plumb-empty one. Other times it's overflowing, lol. Joys of bipolar! Then somebody told me the glass is always full, no matter what! It's just partly full of water (or whatever) and partly full of AIR. And as long as I have plenty of air, I'm breathing, right! And that's a good thing. @BullChick, I don't know your story, background, situation or what you're going through, but I'm here for you. Whatever you feel is OKAY. No guilt, no blame. Pm me if you want. I'm not good for much, but I can listen.

It is more like a roll but very tasty

Just have some freshly baked sesame Bagels now, slowly rised in the fridge overnight, really tasty.

My husband says my glass is half full of pi$$. Bipolar too, some days are hard, some days are easy.. And some days I dont know how I feel. But I'm not on top of the world like I was before with these tablets. (I'm not at the bottom of the deepest pit either) So the glass stays half full or bone dry, some days it has a dash of sparkle.. but not too much .
