Any Home Bakers Here?

My sourdough bread is not sour, again. I know the yeast is alive, because it rose beautifully. Don’t know what happened. Maybe I’ll add more starter next time.

Anyway, I found a microscope at a thrift store. I used it to look at an onion skin. Here is the result:

100 US dollars for a microscope that can see all this at medium power? I’ll take it!

Cultures for health is a good place to buy from!

You can use a stone and place a pan of water under the stone on the bottom shelf-- put the pan in after the stone is hot and the bread is ready. Put the pan in-- a cookie sheet with sides will work-- and pour in a couple of cups of water. The water will make steam in the oven.
My oven has a well in the bottom, I pour a cup of water directly in the bottom of the stove. But WEAR A GLOVE! The water will turn to steam immediately!

Merry Christmas 😂 Can you please let it call me and talk to my mum's? I have had it in the sun, ample water and I have one single bloom. 🤦‍♀️
To get a zygocactus to bloom requires cool temperatures and long hours of darkness. You are probably giving it too much daylight.

Mine is coming into full bloom. I keep it in a kitchen bay window on the north side of the house. It gets long hours of darkness and cool temperatures.

"Christmas cacti produce flowers in a cool, environment-short day cycle. To initiate the production of flower buds, there needs to be at least eight days of 16 hours of dark and eight hours of light each day. Wherever the plant is placed, do not turn on the lights at night, even for a short period of time."
