Any Home Bakers Here?

I was going to make these yesterday morning. In my un-caffeinated state, I went out to the kitchen three times yesterday to get a blueberry muffin. It was very confusing.

Those look much better ten the ones I made this morning, forget one little ingredient and they don't come out right.

We still ate them. The ham and beans were a home run for supper, saved a ham bone and the broth that had cooked off of it and some left over ham went into the pot of pintos along with an onion this morning and cooked slow all day.

Nigiri style sushi

Sushi rice(recipe on post 61899)
Nigiri Shrimp
Salmon sashimi,
Tuna sashimi
Tamagoyaki (rolled egg recipe)

Directions:

Dip hands in tezu before handling rice.

Take a little Sushi rice and roll it in your hand until it is a log shape about 3 finger widths long. Flatten the top and ends.

Top with any of the above toppings. If you top with Tamagoyaki, wrap a thin strip of nori seaweed around it to prevent it from falling off.

Gunkan Maki style Sushi:

Ingredients:
Sushi rice (on post 61899)
Nori seaweed

Toppings:
Ikura (Salmon caviar)
*Shirauo (Icefish)
**Uni (Sea urchin roe)

Directions:
Roll a little sushi rice in your hands until it is a log shape about 3 finger widths long.

Cut Nori along lines. Wrap Nori strips around the side of the rice block. Use tezu to make nori stick to itself at the end. The nori edge should be above the rice block, making a cavity.

Fill with toppings of your choice.

*Note on Shirauo/icefish: a little hard to find and perishable.

**Note on Uni: VERY EXPENSIVE.
