Kazakhstan Baursak

Recipe courtesy of the exchange student from Kazakhstan.

Ingredients:

1 egg
250ml warm milk
250 ml warm water
3 tbsp oil
1 tbsp yeast
4 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
910g flour
Oil for frying

Directions:

Combine all ingredients and mix into a dough.

Let rise for 1 hour

Punch down dough and roll to about 1/8” thick

Cut dough into circles or squares

Preheat oil to 350F

Drop spheres and/or squares in hot oil and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown, flipping as needed to brown both sides.

Serve hot and enjoy with toppings of your choice.

Note: They should be full of air, that’s normal. When you drop it in the oil, you should see it rise.
