Any Home Bakers Here?

Something about hot days -- and we have 8 of them coming up -- that take the desire to cook right out of me.

I cooked some rice yesterday. That was the most inspired cooking I've done all week. Ok, I made fried rice today... that took a bit of prep and execution. Just... wanna spread PB and jam on a rice cake, call it good, and go work in the garden.

It is good to see the starter doing well! I will get stronger over the next several months too.
It's been a couple of weeks and I can see it is getting stronger. I started some dough last night and baked today, I've found it's something I enjoy and wish I had more time to do it.

What size of bread pan would be right for making a half size loaf? I thought it would be something easy to find but I haven't found an answer.

You can get foil or metal mini loaf pans. Or, you can get a little more creative. A muffin pan, a foil/parchment hammock in a loaf pan, or free form on a baking sheet. Of course, buns and rolls are an option too.
My eight hole mini-loaf pan.

Use a smaller oven proof (lid) dutch oven

Made my second batch of bread dough, here's the first rise!

Punched down (with crank), divided and placed dough in greased loaf pans for second rise. It didn't rise as high as the first time, but I expected it as I substituted honey for sugar, and 3 cups of rye flour, too.

I have to tinker with recipes, I can't leave them alone!
;)

One of my potato plants got knocked over by my mother while we are weeding, because she’s partially blind, she didn’t see that she knocked over a potato plant. When I came back from doing errands, the plant was already wilting and dying. I decided to harvest the potatoes from the plant.

The result was a bunch of red Pontiac potatoes like this one.

I made one into a baked potato, and it was the best potato I ever had.

It looks tasty!
