I'm guessing way to young to tell (pic taken at 4 days old) but thought I'd post and I can add pics as it grows:

It came from a mixed flock so probably a mixture of things. I know for sure there are Orpington )(splash), Faverolles, Australorps in there not sure what else. As you can see it is much bigger than the 3 Aruacana chicks! Any ideas welcome! Also if anyone can point me to what colour those Aruacana's will be as adults I'd love to know!

Thanks in advance!

If the Araucana are the British type, the it looks like you have two black-red and one Lavender.

Unsure about the other chick but it looks as though it will turn out white to me.

Thanks Sneebsey - I'm guessing the French and UK are the same types. I'll go and have a search on 'black-red' as a colour to see! So difficult as a total clueless newbie when I dont' know the right terms to look up! And yes I believe 'little grey' is a lavender - I'm so hoping it is a she as I love, love, love that colour! If it is a he and he is gentle I may even rethink my rooster-less state!!

I was thinking that although it seems to have some very pale grey just over it's head / neck so not sure if that means anything?

I've had Araucana for many years and can only think of good things to say of them; gentle without being wimpy, great foragers, decent layers and very pretty. Hope you will enjoy them and perhaps update us as the "white" chick feathers out; id be interested to see how it develops.

Thank you - that is lovely feedback as that is just the type of chicken personalities / traits I'm after! I'll definately have to get more already as when I went back to the lady i've been getting eggs off to get some more for my 2nd silkie who has now gone broody she had a basket with the ones I'd asked for (Orpingtons, Australorps and BCM) but she'd also added a few more Araucanas just in case and they were soooo much darker than the original ones I'd got for this batch of chicks! I'm hoping my silkies will be the sort to go broody at least twice if not more in a year so I can get my coloured egg basket I'm aiming for!!

Knowing silkies, I'm sure you'll be overrun with chicks come summer. You could try and fashion a brace of sorts for scissor beak, but I'd be concerned about ensuring that he could eat and drink with such an apparatus. If you post in the illnesses forum I'm sure someone might have experience of this.

It looks at least part faverolles. I just got 2 salmon faverolle chicks a few weeks ago and that is what the looked like. Very sweet chicks fluffy lil things. They are bigger size also.

Cute :love:jumpy I wonder if the 5 toe thing is a dominant gene though as she said to count the toes to see if it is part Faverolles? Only 20 days until I hopefully have some pure ones of my own :D

Yah on lots of chicks :ya:ya. Not sure about the scissor thing - don't really want to do something like that to a poor little chick, it seems to be eating and drinking quite normally and no size difference to the other 2. I think I'll worry about it if / when he seems bothered.
