More good news! Just sold another 94 chickens, mostly roos!

Down almost to where I want to be for the winter (And until my health improves!) I've still got to cull about 8 Spangled Orloff roos and I'll be there!

Now I can start planning for spring!

I've only got 101 chickens on the farm right now, 17 Roos and 84 hens. I can't even remember the last time I was under 100 and I'll only have 93 when I cull those 8 roos.

Anybody working with the breed need any orloff roos?

I'm guessing your Spanish was better than you thought.

By the way, if you wrap celery in aluminum foil, it will keep for weeks in the fridge...

Happy for you and your family...

Nope, but I learned how to say cheeken.

I'm terrible with languages. I do think someday, if I get the time, I'm gonna try and learn English though.

I had a kid that worked for me for a couple of summers and was very fluent in both Spanish and English. Pablo would talk slow in Spanish sometimes and I could understand what he was saying... I just never could remember the darn words. I'd tee him off and he'd mumble a bunch of stuff in Spanish, when I asked him what he said, he'd say "Buy a dictionary".

We've got a sign in the office that reads "You don't have to be crazy to work here - but it helps!" Of course we also have one that says "All unattended children will be sold as slaves" and one on the front of my booth that reads in big red letters "No whining".

mfb.

Much like yourself, I can understand a little bit of Spanish if spoken slowly. But, I have trouble recalling words to use myself.
(I grew up in a New Mexico "barrio" called "Chihuahuita" (Little Chihuahua) and I studied German in High School.

A cute story:

I had been in "Old Mexico" for about a week and was getting "fairly good with simple Spanish communication. I went into a shop in Mexico City shopping for a leather suitcase. Two women were in the shop speaking German sometimes to one another and also speaking Spanish very well to a Clerk.

I spoke to them in German and they answered me that they were from Germany. We continued our conversation in rudimentary German...but I had been a week "thinking in Spanish" so..sometimes my words were German and sometimes Spanish. But the 2 gals understood it all and we continued to visit for a while.

Later, the Clerk asked me What language were you speaking? It is similar to Spanish...but I have never heard THAT language before!
Ha-Ha !!! I guess he hadn't ...because I was mixing words of 2 languages! Ha-Ha !!!

Funny things happen.

I hope you're feeling better this evening!

Junkmanme, the funniest thing I ever heard with languages was once years ago I was traveling around the country in an old custom van, had stopped a few weeks in Mesa Arizona and was working construction. I worked with some guys from Mexico, and they knew I was broke, so they let me eat with them until payday. When friday came around, I took them out to eat at a Chinese restraunt. The waitress spoke very little English, the guys spoke very little English, and I spoke very little English

even less Spanish and no Chinese.
The one guy wanted chili. but he pronounced it cheelee. I couldn't convince him you couldn't get chili from a Chinese place. I can't explain it... you just had to be there, but after 30 years I still laugh when I think about it. I think everyone there thought we had escaped from a nut house somewhere.

They were sorta right too. I got fired from that job after a few weeks because the boss told me to carry some steel up on the sixth floor (Was just I-beams up there). I looked at him like he was nuts, turned away from him, leaned over and asked him what he seen. What he asked? I looked him right in the eyes and said you don't see no bushy tail freind, I ain't no darn squirrel and I ain't going up there like one.

I miss those days of being young and stupid sometimes.

mfb,

Ha-Ha! Funny Stories !!!

Yep. You're unlikely to get "Chile" in a Chinese Restaurant...except perhaps HERE in Gallup, NM....Ha-Ha !!!
(I'll have to TRY THAT...) (Our "State Question is: "Red or Green?" [referring to chile] )

IF I order "Kung Pao Chicken" and they ask "Red or Green?", I'll know I'm all set !!!

I wouldn't climb up that building either !!
I had an Electrician friend in Colorado that had a job on a 250 foot tower near Torrington, Wyoming (where the "normal" wind is about 50 mph)...He said the top only swayed about 30 feet back and forth. (Good Tower!)

NOT my "cup-of-tea".
