I have a huge load on my shoulders. 20 pets, all very demanding. I have a baby-sitting job, but I'll lose it this summer. I'll only have little jobs here and there. And while it's only for a few months, it's that much less that I'm making. I'm trying to find new families to work for, but I haven't had any luck. I need to get more feed for my horse, bedding and feed for my gerbils and just about a billion other things for the rest of them. I need good ideas. I live in a very small town. Not a whole lot of families with kids. And I don't live in any kind of neighborhood. But I need good ideas. I need money.

Thank you, everyone!

Summer is coming up lots of families going on vacation. Pet sitting, Horse sitting etc. I am always looking for somebody REASONABLE to help with my horses, mucking stalls, grooming, bathing, tack cleaning etc. Make a "price list" of the things you can do and hand it out at local stables. Set a $ amount minimum so they can "order" off the menu while also not wasting your time (you probably don't want to drive 15 min to earn $5 cleaning a headstall...etc

If you have a talent, place ads for that. Website design? Good at facebook / tumbler / twitter....advertise your "Social Media" skills to businesses for a flat rate fee set them up with a facebook page and a twitter. Charge them xxx per month to update it.

The number and type of opportunities available is somewhat limited by how old you are.I've hired kids as young as 14 or so...and adults in their 40's and 50's.it all depends on HOW you market yourself.

Good advice!
I'd suggest something less glamorous: take your horse's manure, mix it with weeds, lots of weeds, straw from his/her stable and whatever organic kitchen waste you can get hold of. Pile it up, keep it moist, mix in a bit of soil/sand and after a few weeks you'll have nice compost to sell. And it won't cost you a thing. We always sell whatever compost we have spare quickly.
What you can also do is grow vegetable seedlings. We have a garden nursery and we sometimes grow peppers which sells out quickly once they make fruit, herbs etc. We often get asked for tomato seedlings and small onion plants too. Many people don't have the patience to grow things from seeds.
I've also sold 100's of succulents which are dead easy to grow from cuttings.
Another thing we were quite successful with was fresh herbs. We made up packets of fresh basil, thyme, rocket etc and sold it to a local shop.
And we live in a tiny town.
Good luck!

That's really good advice. Thank you so much! I do PLENTY of horse work, so that would be a good choice for me. We have 1 or 2 English riding stables (not my riding style, but hey, it's still a stable) that I could contact.

Again, thank you so much! I am very thankful you posted! I will try to get some jobs landed.

I would post an add on craigslist listing your skills and an hourly rate. Also you can ask to put up flyers at 55 and over communities if your town has any. The elderly are often in need of reliable cleaning and gardening help.

If there is a senior center, post an ad that you pull weeds.

It's difficult for elderly people to get up and down, so pulling weeds is a real hardship. It's almost impossible to find anyone who will pull weeds. Garden services want to mow and weed whack.

I made riding students clean stalls and clean tack, but I suspect that a lot of people would be willing to pay to have saddles soaped and oiled.

It is impossible to find chicken sitters. So if you know how to take care of chickens, or goats, or other small farm animals, you should be able to find vacation animal care jobs over the summer.

If you have experience, you could also get paid to exercise people's horse for them. Could be riding, longing, hand walking, etc.
