Hello, and well do I spin ? I think I do, not very well, just learning and having a hard time and a lot of laughs doing it. At first all my spinning yarn was like very twisted rubber bands, now its more like stretched out rubber bands. Can't seem to get it all adjusted right. I am basically self taught as my daughter has a wheel and she is also self taught but she is doing great. She doesn't live to far away just far enough I can't ask her to run to check mine out. She says keep trying. I don't knit much anymore, do crochet just super simple things. I am not good at following patterns....guess I am not serious enough to concentrate on them.. I am working on making a round wool rug as I spin...LOL its a challenge with kinky skinny spots of yarn, then for a run there is some that is pretty good. Its fun and I love it though..........I buy my roving in whites mostly and then have fun dying it........ I buy some raw too ...I am a needle felter too... I love to do that also.
I knit every day. I want to learn to spin, but for now I get my ravelry spinning buddies to spin for me
I am LucyLuLuLucia on there, if anyone wants to "friend" me so we can check out each other's projects. I am not a great photographer, but I try to write good notes.
At the moment I am working on a sweater for my mom called "Sunlit" by Kim Hargreaves. I don't cable without a cable needle, so it's slow going.
terrie, could you somehow explain how to knit socks using either one of those methods (whichever is easiest for a beginning socks-knitter)? I am scared silly of trying to knit socks but have always wanted to try and I have a hard time following my books. I've been knitting scarves, baby blankets (for who knows), and hats (like the ear flap kind). Just an easy peasy explanation would be great
Lucy--right now I'm working on a cabled scarf for someone for Christmas (not sure of who) and a summer shrug that I hate. I really should just frog the whole thing, but I feel like I "need" to finish it. It was a lace class I took at my lys, and the pattern is one the instructor made. The first day of class she told us she was unprepared to teach it and that she had just written out the pattern the night before and from memory. We then spent 2 weeks of her telling us corrections to the pattern.
I'm about to cast on some longies to either sell at a craft fair in Oct or if they don't sell, they will be my DDs.
I knit a little. I learned from a book. I crochet more than I knit. I have pattern reading issues in both knit and crochet. I'm much more skilled at embroidery.
I love to spin and knit. I have about 6 sheep along with my chickens. I also have satin angora rabbits whose wool I use. I can drop spindle and have 3 different spinning wheels. I also do natural dying with my wool fiber.
