Don't know if you remember our old sig stamp or not, but we planted those 3 boxes with a new sig stamp, our last one cracked

Not sure yet whether I'll keep this one or not. I like that it has our name and town right on it... was trying to make for easier log-ins, but the coloring in with markers makes it take longer, so that takes away my "quick n easy" goal!

I've been thinking about doing a new one for us too. I like my owl, but it's my first carve and pretty rough. It's just two colors but it has nothing to do with our trail name. I just like owls. When they're not near my birds... and I don't have any better ideas. So I guess I'm keeping it. DS has his own, a knight that he drew when he was three. It embarasses him now. Once he draws something new he likes that's actually carvable, I'll do a new one for him.
I don't remember your old stamp I'm afraid.

It used to be a heart that said REI with wings and a halo... it's on our AQ profile http://www.atlasquest.com/people/profile.html?gMemberId=31029 though we usually stamped it with all metallics (the heart was a reddish copper, not the bright pink shown there). Now it is an angel on a cloud and has out trailname and town.

Whoa, just looked at your profile (henrietta23) and you're a sub teacher too??? Weird.

We found a Hitchhiker that started in Maine and went through RI, VT, MA, NH, CT, NC and now VA. We are dropping it off in a spot near the Interstate in hopes that it goes far! lol

Those of you who make your own stamps....HOW DO YOU DO IT?

I dont have a creative bone in my body when it comes to art. How do you make those lovely stamps?

Here is what I do... I usually look online for a picture of what I want... clip art is even better. I resize it to the size I want and then I trace it with a pencil. Then I take the paper and put it on my carving medium and rub. The pencil rubs off onto the carving medium and you just carve away!

I have done that for small stamps. I have also used the "pink stuff" (speedy carve), you can buy it at Michael's with a 40% off coupon that you can print online. Go to michaels.com and click Weekly Ad near the top of the page. It willshow you a flyer. Click through and find the 40% off any one regular priced item coupon and print it, it is there every week. (I see this week, there is also a 50% off for 2 days only, cool).

*I do NOT recommend Speedy Cut*. Speedy Carve (pink) is fine, but not speedy cut (white).

I will say that my closest Michaels is a smaller store and got rid of the carving stuff, so I have to go to one further away, but it's worth a call to yours to ask. I have also gotten orders of PZ Kut from Stampeaz.com, there is also a link on atlasquest. I hear she doesnt make PZ Kut anymore, it's called something else now, Firm Kut maybe?

My students made a stamp for me to use. I showed them how to carve a stamp out of a 1" art gum eraser and they had a blast doing it. You just carve in relief what you want. If you do your name don't forget to do it backwards!

Yes, if you free hand drawing directly on the eraser, it needs to be backwards. If you trace something like I do (I do it for letters too) then you just trace normal letters. When you rub it into the carving medium, it will end up backwards on it.

I was subbing when I joined. I'm not now. I've been working as a Speech Pathology Assistant for two years. I'm studying to get certified within the next year or two.
I do remember your stamp now!
