Any 'Lord of the Rings' fans out there?

Keep in mind that the books and the movie are both great, but there are some differences. The books are much more complete and the detail is amazing. Tolkien worked on the books for decades before they were actually published. Also, keep in mind that The Hobbit started out as a story for children, but the LOTR existed in his mind as a tale for adults. His writing style changed quite a bit over the years, too, so what starts out as a fun adventure in The Hobbit becomes high and beautiful by the end of LOTR. The Return of the King, in particular, has some astoundingly beautiful passages and ideas. They really open a window for us.

Ahh, as for Faramir, sorry. I can't ruin the story for you.

By the way, Eowyn is a lovely name!

Rob, next month the screenplay supposedly will be presented. I heard then they can offer contracts to the actors for the different roles. Hopefully things should start moving along.

I remember bing quite impressed with the movie version of the Ents. I'd thought they would totally blow creating those characters, or possibly leave them out of the movie entirely... Love the books AND the movies, which you can't always say.

My husband and I read all 4 books (starting with Hobbit) aloud to each other over a period of about 2 years as our "special time" with each other....with kiddos often lurking to listen in - lol.

It was heaven, and we own the extended editions of all 3 movies and LOVE them.

PS - my German Shepherd is named Aragorn - lol.
