Any Lyme disease sufferers out there?

I went to the ER twice the day before my doctors appointment. I went in because I was in so much pain that I couldn't wait for the appointment. They were useless. I walked out the first time I went in. Here I am in major pain, feeling like I'm about to stroke out and just put me in a dark room for two hours to make my headache better. No one even stuck their head in to make sure I was still alive. I ended up back in there in the middle of the night, crying and completely unable to handle the pain and the fear. I think that's been the worst part of all this. The foggy brain makes it so hard to deal with all the other symptoms. All I can do is react emotionally and irrationally. My first day of antibiotics seems to have helped with the fog. I'm still hurting, but I can think through it and that's the most important thing.
I'm glad everyone has mostly happy endings here. I think my knee may continue to be an issue, but that was a problem before. I am a little worried about the short course of antibiotics. My doctor is really well versed in Lyme. He trained in Someplace, NY (foggy brain attack). He called the Lyme capitol of the world. I think he knows what he's doing, but I also know I wasn't as bad off when I saw him, because I still had a Toradol shot from the ER in my system. Two hours after I left his office, I was back to being unable to walk without major drama. Maybe I'll give him a call, we'll see.

Kinnip, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I hope you get relief SOON!

Ahhh Toradol a Lyme sufferers best friend.
I think that works the best for immediate relief because there is no narcotics in it.
Too bad they cant come up with an OTC that works as well.

Little did I know back on May 7th, but I was infected with Lyme, too. My PICC line has just come out, I was on IV meds for four weeks at home and for the eight days I was in the hospital with Lyme meningitis. Talk about a headache, I also ended up with partial facial paralysis that extended down into my trunk (it has since almost fully resolved itself). I'm on Neurontin for the nerve pain, and Kinnip, I know exactly what you're talking about. Back on May 12th they said I had the shingles, turns out it was the tick bite they were seeing, it was infected....I never saw the tick. Oh boy, who knew you could get that sick from Lyme? Hopefully they've cleared it out, I don't want to have it return again and again, but who knows?

I had Lyme disease, along with two of my friends. My friends were in the latter stages, while mine was more treatable. This was in the 80's early 90's when they were still sorting out proper treatments. Without going into too much detail, my one friend didn't fare so well. My other friend responded better to the treatment, but she still suffers from the neurological issues as a result.

My treatment was early enough were I didn't suffer as much as my friends. Lyme Disease is very painful, and I truely know how you are feeling. It will take a little while, but you will feel better. Just keep your doctor informed on how you are feeling, and they'll be able to adjust medications as needed. Hang in there!

My dad has a friend whos wife was bitten by a tick at their lake house a good number of years ago. She got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. She ended up dying in the hospital.

Ticks are nasty little things. Good luck!

I think everyone in my family has been bit by a Lyme tick at least once. That is what happens when you live in CT right next to E.Lyme.

This is why EVERYONE should get guinea hens. HA HA

Question here: I was very recently diagnosed with systemic lupus, everything that I have read fits with all of my symptoms. HOwever, the other day I was talking to a friend (she has a doctorate in homeopathy) and she suggested ruling out lymes, instead of and in addition to the lupus. I have searched some on the internet and will continue to do so, but feel info. straight from the horse's mouth might be better. So, what are the symptoms of lymes? I saw one individaul w/ both lupus and lymes, what was different, etc... What tests would I need to have run?

I haven't but our yellow lab, Dawson, caught it.
