Any members using "Netflix"?

I had Netflix when they FIRST started several years ago, and kept it for about 3 years. Loved it. Because I lived (then) less than 50 miles from their first distribution center in San Jose, CA, I would get the next disc THE VERY NEXT DAY after mailing one back. Amazing. I started when it was 4 movies at a time, the company's earliest options, for $19.95 a month. LONG time ago.

Excellent customer service. Replacement discs for damaged ones was just as prompt, and they didn't wait until the defective disc arrived back at the distribution center.

Then work got CRAZY and I didn't have time to watch anything.... I kept DVDs for nearly EVER and finally sent them all back, cancelling my subscription. Like I said, this was back when it was $19.95 a month. THAT long ago.

I'd start again, if I didn't spend all my time watching chickens. Wait... winter is coming up.... can't watch 'em in the dark... hmmmmmmmm....... I may resubscribe after all.

I agree. We subscribed in the beginning and had issues with discs gone missing after we returned them and they never gave us a problem. We dropped the subscription though because it was taking too long between discs. Once they added more distribution centers we re-joined and have not had a complaint since. Especially LOVE the streaming through the Wii option. It works really well and DH and I can get a disc and then let the kids choose an instant so everyone is happy

We got rid of Directv and got Netflix. I will never have cable in my house again. I love Netflix. My hubby isn't too into Sci-Fi movies, so buying them is out of the question and I was so excited to find all of the Star Trek movies are streaming now on Netflix!!!

It is so much better to pay $20 a month to watch exactly what I want to watch as opposed to $80 a month for a bunch of crap on TV that I never watched.

We LOVE Netflix. We just use our computer to access a wide range of movies available to view instantly. We are going to get out wii set up to recieve them so we can view on the big screen. This is our second time on Netflix. We have had only good experience. Our kids love to watch old Disney movies that are hard to find. They can be found instantly on netflix. Try the one month free. That is how we started.

I'm watching a movie right now on my Xbox using a $7.99 Netflix subscription. The streaming on my dsl modem works fantastic.

Considering one PayPerView movie on DishNetwork or a rental on iTunes costs $5 I think Netflix is an amazing deal.

We can't use the instant feature where we live either. Besides, most of what we'd watch is not available for instant viewing. We watch a lot of British stuff that just wasn't available in the video stores. We've subscribed for a few years now and are using the 3 at a time now. One nice feature is that you can put your service on hold for as long as 90 days. Occasionally you will get a scratched disk or one that has been cracked in mailing, but that's rare.

We are close to giving up our Dish Network satellite package since there is so little that we watch on it.

DH's buddy has it. Orders DVDs which is neat, but I think the coolest part is being able to just click on one and watch it online. You need a fairly fast puter to do it, but it's awesome. No wait (for mail), no going to the store, no returns just THERE right then. Very cool.

And bonus points because he can be over here watching a movie with us and his folks (who he's staying with) can be watching one at the same time... not just 2+ puters in the same house, but ANY computers anywhere can use the same account. Just have to be careful that you click PLAY and not Add to Queue... that'll have one in the mail to you that you didn't order.

Overall VERY awesome. Thought about doing it for us, totally worth the price, but since we can use his with NO extra costs to him at all, why bother?

Don't know about the Wii stuff... we have one, but it's in the living room... no internet. Of course, we do have enough cable to run the DSL into Son's room... if the Wii was in there with cable... hmmm.... *rubs chin* Oh yeah, I'm definitely paying attention to this topic.

Actually there is a "play queue" as well--you can put movies into it and call them up later to play.

Just get yourself a Wireless router to plug into your DSL--the Wii has wireless capacity--you don't need to run a cable and can get on the Internet anyplace in your house and yard--range will depend on the router. (We watch movies on our laptop down by the pool.) As far as the Wii, Netflix will send you a free disc that you put in the Wii and it programs it to download movies from their site. Then you use the Wii handheld to select the movie, start and pause it. My Wii is plugged into our 58' HDTV so we watch them on the big screen.

THANKS Woodmort!!!

We've got a tower hoobajoob for our DSL... I think it's the same as MIL's and they've got a wireless thing so maybe it could work for us. Again, thanks for that tip. I'll have to ask DH and his friend about that stuff ... they may think it's worth it just to have the kids busy and not wanting to horn in on their WoW time.
