Any Metalheads out there?

good on ya uncle for cleaning up, it's not an easy road to take when ya have been abusing things for some time. but oh so worth it. speaking form personal experience here, been over a year now without even a drop of alcohol... now i'd rather hang out with our chickens than some of my old mates haha. knowing people are there who care is a big help, but it can be hard on everyone.

i was sort of going off metallica by the time the black album came out, discovered heavier stuff

so for me anything from then on is the 'newer' stuff but guess that's purely a personal thing ha. master of puppets is my personal fav. slayer's reign in blood is another classic from that early thrash era that i still pull out every now and then too.

If you want the Metallica fix without Metallica, try Testament. They sound a lot like old Metallica (from the 80s)

I liked Metallica's medley of Mercyful Fate songs on Garage, Inc.

Chickeypoo, it sounds like you read the bands on my ipod!

I have to say, though, no one has mentioned All That Remains, Breaking Benjamin (maybe not metal but definately worthy of listing!), Godsmack, Hinder, Papercut Massacre, or Tantric. I have Disturbed in my cd player in the suv, but my favorite band has to be Five Finger Death Punch. I like the older bands (I listened to them in my late teens, early 20's) and Metallica used to be my favorite (For Whom The Bell Tolls). There was a band back in the 80's called Keel that did a song I LOVED! Could not hear it enough. I have tried to find the band on itunes but only come up with Ron Keel and, yes, they had the song but it is NOT the same as it was put out in the 80's. Dokken was good too.

Keep rockin'!!!!!!

Metal covers a wide range of musical tastes. Speed metal, death metal, nu-metal, etc. I gave up trying to figure out which bands belong in which group. It gets too confusing.

As for me, my favorites: Avenged Sevenfold, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, Dragonforce, Project 86 (earlier albums rocked), Godsmack, Killswitch Engage, etc.

Ok, its DS here, but truly... METAL= LIFE. Cradle Of Filth, SlipKnot, Machine Head, Children Of Bodom, Behemoth, Korpiklaani, Tyr, Turisus, Ensiferum, Alestorm, Gorgoroth, Satyricon, Slayer, MAYHEM, Lordi (not really metal but decent anyways), Nuclear Assault, F***... I'm Dead, Murderdolls, and billions more \\m/ (look up keep on galloping by korpiklaani... it doesnt have much english but is decent) and welcome to the dark side

wow some good choices there, korpliklaani are great! and satyricon have to be one of my favourite black metal bands, love the rocky sound they get in there in their later stuff.

hope you've all seen the 'death metal rooster' clip on youtube
it's the ringtone on my cellphone. and the alarm, great to wake up to early in the morning
