I think they're done hatching. One little white Silkie died trying to hatch during the night.

That leaves me with 17 babies. There are 5 more Silkie & Frizzle eggs left, so I'll leave them another day or so, but I wouldn't think they'd be too far behind the others if they're going to hatch. Still, 17/25 isn't too bad for my first try! And those Silkies and Frizzles were shipped too.

Ok, final update....

One of the last 5 eggs hatched on its own...adorable white Silkie! I cracked upen the other 4...1 died early on, 2 were dead at full term, and 1 was alive and peeping, but has NO upper beak. I guess I'll be euthanizing that one.

It's so sad b/c he's so lively and chirpy.

So, my final tally (w/o the deformed one) is 7 Blue/Barred Rock, 1 EE, 5 Silkies, and 5 Frizzles. I'll upload a pic when I get the last Silkie out of the bator.

Tomorrow my bator will be cleaned and then will get...36 more chicken eggs and 35 quail eggs! I'm not sure how I'm going to smoosh them all in there, but I'm going to try!

I have a basically beakless chicken that does just fine. Consider keeping him going if he can eat. Poor little guy deserves a chance...
