I ordered a dozen Peekaboo Silkies last month. All were duds except two- one died in the first week and the other was still good - I prayed would hatch! Day 21 I heard a little tapping. Day 22 still tapping and could have sworn I heard a peep or two. This morning I ran to the coop like a kid on Christmas day to find a lovely little splash chick! Yippee!!

Poor baby is lonely. I have it next to my desk. It's screams it's head off in the brooder until I start talking to it. As soon as it hears me, it settles down and makes little happy noises and picks at bits of crumbles or takes a nap. Now how am I supposed to get anything done! LOL!

Lisa from Cree farms told me to leave all the chicks in the incubator until the hatch is over, but my first little guy hatched so early. I worry about leaving him until the end of the hatch. How long can they safely stay in there with no water? The yolk only lasts for a day right??
