Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

You all are so fun to hang out with. I get a big smile on my face reading through
these posts. Will continue to keep you posted. No squatting yet. When I think about
it, the past 5 months have been a lot of fun with the girls. Have learned a ton. Whats
a few more days, dare I say weeks? I'm definitely not going for months. I like the
cookbook night time story ideas. That had me chuckling. Peace,

Still just 3 eggs today. I love checking the trail cam pics when I get home seeing the other girls sitting in the nests! I was thinking that all 6 should be laying by now, hmmmm???
We have eagles and hawks flying over town all the time, that's why I only let them out when the husband or I are out too. Killer day today, I work for a wholesale meat processing company, done everything from machine repair, to getting my CDL to pick up freight, then learned to cut steaks, now for the last 5 years I've been in the office with all the billing payroll. Today the patty machine operator went home sick, so I finished off the batches. Wow the week office back is not loving the moment LOL Such a weenie right now

I am loving that we've been hanging out at the mid 40's to 50 degrees YAY! Spring is on its way!!! I was so excited when I went out last night and heard frogs croaking! My husband wants to start planning our escape coming up end of May, we're practicing snow birding LOL We head to Nevada / Arizona area for 2-3 weeks. Love this time of year!!! Love this group! Keep up the good work everyone!

Another beautiful green egg today. And this time it was in the nest box, not on the ground! Good girl. Melabella-the introduction of the new chicks to the older chickens was hilarious. The newbies are in our portable run and we attached their old brooder to it and added a door so they can sleep in there. So no one can get to one another except through the chicken wire. Well the posturing was unbelievable. Hermia is a bantam-so she is roughly the same size as the 10 week old chicks! But she puffed herself up and stood on her tiptoes cackling at them and pecking at anyone who dared to get to close to the wire. Slo-fro(my non-crowing roo) actually got protective of Hermia for the first time and kept trying to keep her(and me!) away from the strange chickens. They settled after about 15 minutes and all started eating the scratch I had brought to ease intros. so I went inside. About 20 minutes later I came back to check and all was quiet as I spied on them, then Hermia caught sight of me and started cackling and complaining again. So it seems that all is good until mom shows up and needs to be impressed by how annoyed everyone is,. They are kinda like my kids

I am hoping to that they will be fine with this arrangement till the chicks are old enough to be on laying mash and then everyone can get together.

I have 12 Welsummers due next Friday and 30 mixed eggs to include Cream Leg Bars, Isbars, Swedish Flower Hens and Lemon Orpingtons due on the 27th. They were all shipped eggs so I expect half or more will not hatch. When are you getting eggs?

So, my little boy was so excited about the egg that he carried it around the house until SPLAT... he dropped it. He was devastated and bawled until Itold him chickens lay eggs everyday. HOPING the one that laid today will lay again tomorrow. He is looking forward to it.

Awww! Poor little guy! Thankfully, they do lay each day! Fingers crossed she lays again tomorrow!

Brooster those chicks are just way too cute. They grow so fast....

My two little RIRs are now about 3 weeks old.

This may be Ruby and Rose...

As for my older girls

They tend to stick together...

See... It's getting fluffyer...

You are not going to look at mine!

But they can get along...

I have 3 different age groups right now... here are 2 of them

Matilda just had to jump in the shot...

Sorry about so many pics... but just had to share a few of them with you.

Beautiful birds Catsol!

Awww, your little RIRs are about the same age as mine. So cute! Isn't it a funny age? I just took pictures of each of mine to get opinions on genders. I couldn't resist. I have so many roos, it just seems statistically implausible! I even had my son the mathematician calculate the likelihood that every egg I hatched would be a roo. The chances are 1 in 1024! I think I got at least one pullet though. I'm still waiting on opinions from the experts in the gender threads.

Thanks! To hatch your own sounds like so much fun... but then there is the rooster issue. Not sure if I would do that. But then again I did not think I would so get into chickens. I never say never;) The odds sound crazy... maybe you should play the lottery if you have one up there;) Though getting that many roos may not be lucky for us... beating the odds is sort of...

They are really funny at this age. These 2 are more attached to me. They will fallow me around. I am hoping to get a few more chicks. I am only one off from what I had before the dog attack. But I think I will be getting more then that. I plan at stopping by the feed store tomorrow and see what is there. I know that the BO will be there. I want to get another Ameraucana or two just to see if I get a different color egg. My two now give me blue. A green or pink would be nice... or even a stronger color of blue. The two I have now I can see the difference. One is a little more cloudy gray-blue then the other girl. I so got to put up the video that I have of Matilda laying an egg... And I will get the Blue Anadlusians later when they get here. A light Brahmen would be nice as well... tooooo many chickens to choose from. Sooo many choices.. So having fun.;)

Goodnight everyone. Sweet dreams.
