Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

My smallest barred rock just laid her first egg, so now all 4 are laying, some more inconsistent than others, but that's okay. My RIR has sang the egg laying song for everyone's first egg except for her own! She is so funny and after they lay, she doesn't sing it any more. It was so funny, when my Clemi was in her nest trying to lay, they were both singing, this went on for at least a couple of hours. I left her alone for a while, and went back out & they were still singing. Finally, she hopped off the nest and left an egg behind!

Kdwag~ that's so neat, like they are sisters with their first babies. I got my first egg yesterday in the afternoon. I just went out and a girl is getting ready to lay.... do you think its the same one as yesterday? Or another girl?

Yay for Crafty chick!

Does anyome know how long they will be pullet sized eggs?
Pretty Egg #2 CC

Out of my 8 girls laying, 5 have moved on to large or extra large, with even the occasional jumbo from one of my red sex links. The other three are still laying small to medium on the egg weight scale. The ones that have been giving the large to extra large, have been laying 6 weeks, and the smaller eggs are from the pullets laying between 3-5 weeks, so you will see larger eggs before too long, if indeed the breeds you have lay large+ eggs.

Mine are BO, I have 5 girls and a roo. One of the girls hurt her leg when she was a few weeks old trying to fly up onto a roost. Ever since then she's been smaller, I dont expect one from her for a while.
Hoping since its almost spring it will jump start the rest
Thanks MB!

We are now 4 out of 8 girls laying Happy Dancing! I have snuck home to make my DH his favorite "Blackberry Cake" which takes 6 beaten eggs. It's a wonderful day!!!

My RIR's eggs have been getting larger over a 2 week span. My partridge eggs are still very small but she's only been laying for a week and has laid 3 eggs to date. My barred rock who started laying right after my RIR has been laying pretty much the same size on a daily basis for a couple of weeks, I'd call hers medium and very similar to the RIR. There for a while, someone was laying shell less eggs every couple of days not sure who was doing that. At first, they were kicking the shavings out of their nest boxes but now I find they just sort of hunker down and leave the bedding alone. Maybe that kicking stuff out is a nervous habit for first time layers... LOL
