Yes they are they started laying back in Oct. I will post a pic of their egg. Mine are 1 year old TODAY!!! they lay nice big eggs. 2.3 to 2.4 ounces nearly every day. They are the loudest of the 3 breeds of chickens that I have owned. I only have two but their eggs change colors slightly so their eggs are always so interesting to me.
The ones on the top are the Wellies the others are my Speckled Sussex.

Yah!... yesterday I got to listen to some egg song. One song was from my Gold Star, Amber. She is really starting to lay more. Her eggs are still small but that's OK with me. But there was another girl singing away. One of the Marans. My 2 marans are now 21 weeks old. I know it could still be a couple of weeks but at lest I can see... I mean Hear some progress. This is so fun. Can't wait to see if they will have the really dark eggs or not.

naksta...are your welsummers laying yet?? Wondering what their eggs look like. I have 2 that are about 15 wks old

Here is the haul from the last 3 days minus 2 no shell eggs and one super thin shelled one. I think the no shells are coming from our slow to mature black sex link and she seems to be laying them at night which is weird. Everyone is eating the dried and crushed shells I put out so I guess they are just getting the hang of it.

Yup... my friend thought she had Marans but they eggs they lay are no darker then her RIRs...So, I will hope for the best and will love what ever they produce As soon as an egg comes I will post a pic. I just hope it is not on the weekend. I am not home on the weekends right now ... not till the end of May...

Hello all. GREAT thread, I think I've read the entire thing and it is awesome. I'm excited to be a member. I'm a newbee, recently got my first four chicks, they are just 5 weeks. But I have already added two more because I am completely hooked on them and having a blast. I realize I have a long wait ahead of me but reading all the comments will make me an expert by the time my first one appears. Thanks for having me.

I have 6 POL pullets. I have 3 Ancona's, they are 17 weeks old. I have two Marans, they are 22 weeks old and My Wyandotte pullet must be getting onto 30 weeks

When will she lay. She is huge and has only just started showing signs of comb and wattles.
