Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

Maybe as a token of gratitude for the scraps thy will give you an egg

LOL, yeah that would be nice. If only it worked that way. I let them out in the yard this evening. They had a nice time walking around in the newly turned and weeded gardens that I have been working on. It is kind of funny how they go into the coop as soon as it starts getting dark. I had one hang out near the DH and me a little longer, she seemed shocked when she looked around and everyone was gone. She looked behind the coop chattering. Finally went up the ramp asking "Did you really leave me alone?"

My yoko and two grey or silver yokos have been laying for a couple of weeks, nice little eggs everyone thinks they are cute. Then my 1 BA finally started to lay 2 days ago. Its about time. She is 25 weeks tomorrow. Now if the others would get on the band wagon. After culling six of my roosters Tuesday it seems very quite now.

Mine didn't really do the squatting thing until just before they started laying. All ten of my older pullets are Barred Rocks. Not sure if all are laying yet. But I have gotten 7 eggs today, so I know at least 7 are laying. Last night I dreamed I got 8 eggs today. Isn't it funny I would dream about how many eggs they are laying. Must be obsessed. They definitely mature at their own rates. My younger pullets are Cream Legbars and Cream Legbar mixed with White Leghorn and one BLRW. They are 4 and 5 weeks younger respectively. Only a couple of them are starting to get pinker combs and wattles. But it seems to happen almost overnight. Now that I've got a basket full of little brown eggs I'm starting to get excited about the idea of some blue ones.
Wow.. what a great picture of some beautiful eggs! You are going to FLIP when you get those blue eggs, the excitement of them still hasn't worn off for me. I am waiting on my first white egg layer to give me an egg. I have 3 girls that hit 20 weeks. I haven't finished their run to their new coop yet, and they have grown out in a horse stall in my horse barn. They free range all day. I swear I was making my bed the other day and heard the egg song outside my bedroom window that is way far away from the barn and coops. It faces the road! I ran out front to see those three little brats coming out of the overgrown stuff that I MUST do something about in my front. Too much poison ivy in there for me to go looking. Houston, I think we have an issue. I will have to lock them in for 3 weeks when their coop and run are ready to break them of the little habit. Ugggg... keep us posted on those blue eggs. I love Barred Rocks by the way, such nice girls.

I heard the egg song yesterday while mine were out of the run. They are pretty used to using the nest box so I don't think one laid an egg on the outside but I'm not sure. I wasn't going to look, they were also in tall weeds and possibly poison ivy. If one pullet even looks like she might lay an egg I have a roo that goes crazy singing the egg song for her. Cracks me up. Good luck with that new coop. That is so exciting.

O.M.G I heard the egg song very briefly and a few hours later I went in the coop and in one of the laying boxes there were 2 mini eggs! :celebrate Right beside each other! They are from 2 of my ISA browns! This is the first time I have ever gotten eggs, so 2 in one day! :ya This is awesome! One is perfect, but the other is a little broken because its a soft shell. I'm so happy that they laid in the boxes! I'm excited to collect some more tomorrow :weee BTW I don't know who laid them but I have a few that have been squatting for a while and been very vocal. They are 17 weeks old.

:yesss: :woot :clap

P.S. I'm still waiting on my other ISA browns to lay. There are 18 chickens still to lay.
