Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

So here is a picture of the chicks I adopted.
Not sure when they were born maybe about 4-5 days ago. Nor do I know the breed.

So cute! They were born the same day as the chicks I just hatched! So in about 6 months from now, we'll both be waiting on this batch to give us some eggs.

I went out to the coop this evening, and only found one egg. But is was different from my other eggs. It was olive!

Checked the camera, and it confirmed. Irlene is my new egg layer!

I am so stinkin jealous of that camera Brooster! What lovely clear shots it is giving you!!! Can you see all your nest boxes? What kind of chicken is Irene? I'm guessing an EE? I HAVE to get some blue/green egg layers this spring! Oh man, then it'll be another 6-7-8 months of waiting! Aggg! Also, that egg in the bottom left is HUGE. I got my first Jumbo today, do you weigh your eggs at all. I do just to try and learn. I keep three cartons on my counter, and seperate them in by sizes.

Oh so cute!!! I'm going to look at all the chicks that have stripes like that. I think EE's start with stripes like that, don't they guys?

I have been following all of you and I am so very jealous. No eggs yet. The girls were 6 months old January 11th. We have been having weather that my desert dwelling chickens are not used to-freezing nights and rain all day for days on end. Hope they get crackin soon. I did get 4 new babies who are now 6weeks old. So the eggs they are a coming, but I have no patience!

to our little egg waiting thread! SO happy to have another impatient member of the group! Don't worry, a lot of us as you can see have new babies, and will be doing the waiting game again before long! We are just gluttons for punishment we are! What breeds are your girls, and your chicks? Perhaps breeds that take a bit longer? WE LOVE pictures! (hint, hint).

Hope you chime in often, again, Welcome!

The camera is great! It does show all the nesting boxes. I just crop the pictures. I have 5 boxes, but my chickens only use 2 of them...so far anyway. She is an EE. She's one of the ones I adopted. She doesn't look like any other EE I've had...blue head, red wings, no beard. She has a very sweet personality. There's another picture where my rooster is showing her how to use the nesting box! It's so funny. I wanted to post it, but it's kind of dark.

The chicks I just hatched are BCM, Golden Cuckoo Marans, and White Marans...although...they're starting to get wing feathers, and I think the farmer may have stuck some other types of Marans in there, because some of the chicks don' match any of those colors.

I'm excited to see how they look as they grow.

I know just what you mean about swiss cheese memory. Plus, our little egg watch group is growing and growing! I can barely keep up with who has what, and who's laying when, etc.
