Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

Oh My! Not sure how to take this, I've been able to collect 1 or 2 eggs a day, today, not 1!!! I feel cheated :rant Our Dominic has been hanging out in the coop with the

new girls, hardley coming out. Still no new layers just the BA and Wels. We're at a balmy 48 degrees today, cloudy. I can't help but wish the days away to spring.

Congratulations to all the new egg collectors! It's so stinking eggciting! Hope all had a good day! ;)

Did our hens have a secret meeting, ?? I have been getting 2 eggs a day with nine hens... today not one hen laid. So we are both together on this. :barnie

We are having a serious flood situation here! You know how I live on a river? Well now the river is in the hen house. My son and I waded out with head lamps and moved the chickens to higher ground. But now I'm worried because it's supposed to change to snow after midnight. They're in the shed, but I don't know if they'll be warm enough? Our bridge is out and we can't go anywhere. My BF can't get home from work. My next door neighbor has 2 inches of water in his living room. The flood siren is going off, and it is SO ominous sounding. This all happened in the last 2 hours, and we're supposed to get 2 more inches of rain before midnight!

Fortunately, our house is on higher ground. It's survived a hundred years of storms.  Plus we're all stocked up on food and dry firewood. But this is crazy. And I'm worried for our neighbors.

Thankfully, we still have internet :D

Please stay safe Brooster. Will be praying for you guys.

Oh my Goodness Brooster, SO SORRY to hear you are experiencing this! Nothing I hate more than water in the house! NOTHING.

Whether it be in the basement or leaky roofs, makes me insane. I am sure your chickens will be fine in the shed, I am so glad you had your son to help you move them. I hope you don't lose the internet so we can keep up with how you are doing. I will mention you in my prayers for all that dang water to stop!

Sorry honey!

Now I have to take that back. Flipped some of the chips around and she had an egg buried in there :)

Sorry to hear this Brooster hopefully your neighbors are safe and dry right now. Your chickens should be fine if they are in a dry/draft free place. They might not like it but they will be okay. It's great that you guys are prepared for this. Hopefully your BF finds someplace safe to spend the night tonight.

On a side note. I went back to Wilco today and got another 100# of feed. So I have about 230# of feed. In a big tub in my house. It will be dry and away from bugs and small critters. I just hope it doesn't go bad before we use it all up. I just couldn't pass up the 50% off deal.

You go girl, I would have done the same! You should be fine as long as the bags aren't opened. We still have lots of winter left, my girls going through feed a lot more than when they truly get to free range ON something. You should see them here wandering around looking for something green or some bugs. lol..

On another note, today was my first egg day. Getting closer to that ellusive 9, every girl lay day

Thinking about Brooster, hope all is well.

Hey Guys, Lemon is doing fine. Acted completely normal today except for no egg! Maybe i'm just being overprotective dad! On a positive note I got 8 eggs today!

Brooster, I am sorry to hear about the flood, keeping you guys in our prayers. Gotta run for now.

Still got 3 eggs today. That turkey of ours has laid over a dozen eggs. Love it. Glad they did not get that 'no egg' memo. We are very lucky.

Brooster I will be thinking of you, family and your feathered family. I wish you all the best.

Great news Red. I got 1 egg today from Greta she has consistently laid 2.2 ounce eggs. She has laid me 4 eggs, Now if I can just get the SS to start laying again.......... In fact DH was talking about how long its been since they last laid he thought it was 6 months ago although it really feels like its been that long ago its really only been 3 months. My egg count so far for this month is 21 which is up from Dec's 18 and with my good deals on feed the cost per egg will be getting better too. Right now I am at .72¢ per egg. much better then the $1.12 last month cost me. That's not counting the cost for any of the scratch just feed, and that's just as of right now's egg count. I still have a good deal of that bag of feed left and more eggs to come too.
